Spokane Real Estate Expert – Ross Quintana
I have a nephew who was working at a fast food resaruant living for free at my dad’s house, and one day he came home and told me he lost his job. He told me the story of how he got fired and then said, “doesn’t bother me none”. I always remembered that phrase and over the years I have joked with my wife when something came up that I wanted to show my poor attitude I would just say, “doesn’t bother me none”.
In real estate there are many things that can go wrong in a transaction. It is all about timing and as you get closer to closing, any problem can cause delays. These delays can cause a buyer who has given their notice, been fully packed, has 4 kids and no place to go, or has taken off work to move and scheduled all of his friends to be there to help, a major problem. So many ways to get stressed out.
When these things come up, a sense of urgency is needed to make sure a delay is a small delay and not a huge problem. At the end of a transaction even a small delay can disrupt a buyers plans. The problem is that the person who may need the sense of urgency may have a “doesn’t bother me none” attitude. This can be the other agent, the builder, the lender, or the underwriter. When more than one has this attitude you might have to get an attitude to get people on the ball so your clients get in their home.
It does bother me because I care about my clients. Sometimes I am the only one who cares about them. I am the kind of person who will let someone know that their, “doesn’t bother me none” attitude is a problem. Sometimes you have to call it like you see it. Sorry nephew, you should care if you lose your job and aren’t paying rent, because I am sure there are people you owe money to that care.
