Along the north beach at the southern-most part of hood canal, is the tiny town of Tahuya. Every year, people gather on the first Saturday of July for Tahuya Days and celebrate the town's rich history. It's easy to relax in the laid-back surroundings, meet some warm and eclectic small town friends, perhaps try and win a raffle or maybe enjoy a World Famous Tahuya Big Dog. The annual parade seems to get longer and longer every year, with other groups from other small towns around the area coming together to throw their hat in the proverbial "Parade" ring. From show cars to tractor pulling pirate ships, and candy to water cannons, the parade never fails to make me feel like a kid. It seems that adventure is had by everyone in this perfect example of why we should take the time to "get away from it all" and just have a simple day in a simple place.
Come out and enjoy the fun.
Hope to see you there!
