How 'bout some cheese with that whine?

Who knew how much fun bottling my wine would be? We, Robin, Lynn, and Courtney, didn't actually know, but it turns out it was great fun!

Way back before - sometime in the summer, I think - I watched Louie mix the components that would be 'my wine'. Actually, I guess it was November? December? of 2007 that I attended one of Bader's Wine & Food Pairing events. And it was there that I encountered the 'Pacific Quartet' wine. That week I ordered the kit. It came within a short period of time, and for one reason or another, I didn't get it mixed up until spring or summer. Well, a few weeks after that Louie let me know that it was ready to bottle. Well, it took me a while.

But, with the encouragement and help of a couple of friends, we got 'er done. Thanks to Courtney and Steve, here's the pictures of the bottling process. Which went quickly, by the way.

First, you wash the bottles, two at a time, two squirts. Then place them on the nifty bottle rack.

Then, you fill the bottles - four at a time with this clever system. And no worries about over-fill, as it stops when the bottle has just enough liquid.

Then to the corker, which is just a slick as it could be. It's surprisingly simple, as Robin discovered!

After the corker we have the labeling. I had selected a label and font a little earlier in the process. The government label has to go on one side, and my personal label on the other. It was, again, a simple easy process. After the label, the cap goes on and gets shrink-wrapped. Robin was so fast, I didn't get it on film (or JPEG).

And viola', in under an hour, I've bottled 30 bottles of wine!
