Is Active Rain Effective?

I certainly hope that Active Rain is effective. Although I've been in the business for several years now, I'm only now beginning to understand the true effectiveness of interrelating several avenues of my web presence to drive and increase business. I enjoy technology, but I much more prefer being in front of clients than the impersonal feeling I get from web only contact as a primer.
