Over 20 years old, this quaint shop is styled after the Christkindlemarkets in Germany. There, in most large towns, you will find the market located in the town square, during Advent-the 4 weeks before Christmas. A temporary encampment of peddlers selling holiday related items, the market is a treat for all 5 senses! Ornaments, smoking men(rauchen manner), nutcrackers, and delectable treats as well. Each stall has a popular red and white canvas awning. I could go on about the markets, but that will be another post some day! At Sinter Klausen, large display units are fashioned after the stalls, red & white awnings and all!

Adorable gingerbread house styled display units take up several walls. They are filled with hand blown glass ornaments, made by the most well known companies like Inge, Steinbach and Wendt & Kuhn. You can find something for anyone in the family. Animals, hobbies, traditional Christmas figures, fruits and vegetables, even a bride and groom collection.

Wood carvings from Wendt and Kuhn have the most amazing detail in the smallest of figurines, with a trademarked shiny finish. Steinbach nutcrackers come in all sizes and "professions". From the Oberammergau area, you can find wood carvings, blown glass from Dresden, and Ulbricht smoking men one of my kids favorites. Light the incense cone and cover, the smoke drifts out of their mouths as if they are really smoking!

Sinter Klausen translates to St Nicholas in Dutch. This shop was a project that began after a trip to the Nurenburg Christkindle Market, and is a popular destination for the shopper looking for a traditional German Christmas decorations.
