When someone first becomes a homeowner or first moves to a new city, there is always the questions of how to find reputable contractors who do good work for a reasonable price (notice I didn't say CHEAP). Anyone who has experienced a botched job or dishonest contractor knows what a pain it is to deal with the aftermath of a bad situation.
Where does a homeowner turn?
Angie's List!
Angie's List was founded in 1995 as a way for homeowners to share information about contractors and service providers. Twelve years later the list is going strong with over 120 cities and 500,000 members. The Milwaukee chapter has been around since 2000 and features ratings on over 5,000 service providers. In addition, some top rated service providers offer discounts and coupons which could save you a lot of money.
Personally, I have had nothing but good luck with Angie's List. In fact, I'm not sure where I would be without them. To date, I have hired roofers, garage door contractors, accountants, and dry cleaners from the list. All said, my experiences have been mostly positive. Much more positive than randomly choosing names from a phonebook!
The best part, homeowners, is that Angie's List is offering $10 off a membership for friends of family members of existing members. I just couldn't keep this to myself. So, if you are interested in joining Angie's List,
sign up here and use the Promo Code FRIENDS when joining and save yourself a sawbuck. Also, feel free to pass the word to your friends and family!
