Hope for HensDear Kristin,
Congress has a unique window of opportunity to pass bipartisan legislation to improve the lives of hundreds of millions of egg-laying hens. H.R. 3798, the Egg Products Inspection Act Amendments of 2012, would give each egg-laying hen nearly double the current amount of space, provide enrichments for nesting and perching so birds can engage in natural behaviors, ban forced starvation molting, and require labeling to provide consumers accurate information on cartons about how the birds were raised (e.g., "eggs from caged hens," or "eggs from cage-free hens"). Tens of thousands of Americans have already contacted Congress; now please lend your voice! Please make a brief, polite phone call today to Representative F. James Sensenbrenner (202) 225-5101 , urging co-sponsorship of H.R. 3798, the Egg Products Inspection Act Amendments of 2012. Then, ask Senators Ron Johnson (202) 224-5323 and Herb Kohl (202) 224-5653 to support this legislation as well. And don't forget to send a follow-up message. Thank you for all you do for animals. |
