Honnahlee, a specialty toy store in Lewisburg, WV has new owners

Honnahlee is the only single specialty toy store in Lewisburg. This toy wonderland is a treat for children and adults alike, complete with a plethora of costumes, train sets and tiny kitchens ready to entertain tots while their parent’s explore.

The new owners of Honnahlee, Margaret and Melvin Dolan, have lived and worked in the Lewisburg area most of their lives and certainly call it home. While working at the Wild Bean owned by Melvin's brother, and located next door to Honnahlee, they were fortunate to meet and form a friendship with the former owners of Honnahlee, Roger and Courtney Smith.

"The town was pretty upset when Roger and Courtney were thinking of closing Honnahlee. Honnahlee had been here for 13 years, and was very much a part of the community, so we decided to buy the store”, says Margaret.

“We are decorating the store and selecting toys, and we plan to keep the same kinds of toys; educational, outdoor, and traditional toys. There are a few new companies that we are buying from and looking at a few more. Some of our favorites are Nano blocks (like tiny Legos) and Fred and Friends (fun items for both kids and parents). We are definitely keeping most of the Honnahlee standards like Klutz, Melissa and Doug, Creativity for Kids, Gamewright and Toysmith.”

“Some new green companies we found are Plantoys made from recycled wood, and Animalz which donates a portion of sales to environmental organizations.“

“We are also buying more USA made items like RoyToys traditional building sets, Fractules magnets and Keva building planks. It is so hard to decide on what to buy for the store when you want everything.”



Margaret states, “ hopefully all of our visitors will enjoy the store as much as we do and Honnahlee will continue to bring fun and joy to the children of this great community, Lewisburg.”
