Barnhart and the city of Chino Hills announced the completion of the Chino Hills Government Center on June 3.
The $72 million project includes a new City Hall and police station, Chino Valley Independent Fire District Administration headquarters, James S. Thalman Chino Hills Branch Library and Government Center parking structure.
During an 18-month period, Barnhart managed the construction, planning and scheduling operations of the project, which involved 130,000 square feet over 10 acres in the city's Shoppe Town Center.
The construction was completed in five phases, starting with the police station in August and most recently with the library in January.
The project was deemed an Honorable Mention from the Construction Management Association of America for "Buildings - New Construction Greater Than $25 Million" and received a "2008 Best of Chino Hills Award" from the US Local Business Association

The City of Chino Hills launched its new online registration system that will allow residents to register for recreation activities, classes, and programs from home or from work using the City website at www.chinohills.org. RecTrac, the recreational management software and web registration system was activated on March 24th. The Recreation Division serves a community of nearly 80,000 residents, and added the new online service to provide one more convenience for residents. "Doing business on the Internet is the direction society is moving," explained Jonathan Marshall, Community Services Director. "Our goal is to offer the best services and options, and online registration is another tool we can use to make the park and recreation experience more enjoyable for our community." RecTrac, a product of Vermont Systems, allows the Chino Hills Recreation Division to make its activities available via the Internet while synchronizing all of its online and offl ine processes. Registration and data management capabilities can be accessed quickly; online enrollment reduces the workload and paperwork involved in the registration process. Signing up for programs online is fast, fun, and convenient. Participants can view program information, check availability, and register within minutes. Online registration also provides each household with a calendar that details everything they have registered for! Users can edit their household information, add members, send feedback, and print and view old receipts under their account. To use the new system, each household must have a Login and Password. Persons who have registered for a City program or class anytime after January 2009 already have a Login and Password. The Login is the Household ID number located at the top of the receipt. The Password is a random string of letters and numbers that customers can change after their fi rst Login. The City also offers online support for forgotten passwords. Customers already in the system will receive an email that includes their Login and Password. Those who did not provide an email address will get a letter containing the information. If the customer is a brand new user and has never registered for classes or programs with the City, they will need to call or visit Recreation to have an account created for them. This stop is necessary due to security reasons. Credit card information is not stored in the system. Unregistered visitors can browse as a guest. Customers can search for classes and events by instructor, class type, keywords, and dates and times. Online registration will not be available for some classes such as Tiny Tots, Summer Day Camp, and trips that require a deposit due to the paperwork required. However, customers can still view the class and get necessary information. Visit the City's Website at www.chinohills.org click "Recreation," "Online Registration," or "E-Services," "Recreation Registration." For more information, call (909) 364-2700.
