CITY OF CHINO HILLS PRESS RELEASE PR09 - 092 Contact: Valerie McClung Denise Cattern (909) 364-2618 (909) 364-2615 Date: July 17, 2009 NEW MOBILE RECREATION VEHICLE ROLLS OUT The City launched its new Mobile Recreation Program on June 22nd, and it has proven to be very popular with young residents. The Mobile Recreation Vehicle rolls out to five different locations Monday through Friday including: the Rancho Monte Vista Mobile Home Park, Hunters Hill Park, Crossroads Park, Chino Hills Christian Fellowship, and Alterra Park. A total of 160 children participated in the first week. Children were able to play outdoor games, play on carom boards, play board games, make arts and crafts projects, learn about the food pyramid, and make food crafts. Mobile Recreation is a new program that features a 25-foot customized vehicle filled with games, crafts, homework helper supplies, books, sports equipment, DVDs, and Wii games. It is a free drop-in program for children ages 5-13. Participants may come and go freely, but they must sign in and out and have a signed emergency card on file. This program allows Chino Hills Recreation to take recreation activities to various areas in the City to expand access to fun activities. CITY OF CHINO HILLS PRESS RELEASE PR09 - 094 Contact: Denise Cattern Valerie McClung (909) 364-2615 (909) 364-2618 Date: August 6, 2009 OLYMPIC VIEW DRIVE SLATED FOR ROAD WORK WORK BEGINS AUGUST 12TH The City has issued a $121,000 contract to Hardy and Harper, Inc., of Santa Ana to resurface Olympic View Drive on the west side of Peyton Drive to Running Springs Drive. Other streets that will be resurfaced include Meadowcrest Drive, Royal Court, Royal Ridge Drive, and Moonshadow Place. Work will start Wednesday, August 12th with selective removal of pavement and grinding of the edges of the existing road surface. Two directions of traffic will be maintained throughout most of the project as motorists are directed around the work. The most significant impacts are expected to occur on Thursday, August 27th and 28th as the asphalt layer is applied. Non-neighborhood motorists should avoid the area if possible on those dates as traffic will be delayed. The work has been scheduled to occur prior to the start of school on August 31st.
