East Bay Mortgage & Market Update for April 5th 2011
Economic News: This is a very quiet week for economic reports so the update will be brief. Today's ISM Non-Manufacturing Index showed a slowing in March at 57.3 versus the expected number of 59.7. Anything above 50 is positive growth and there were some nice trends in the underlying data in the report. The minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) were released at 11AM PST had had little impact on the market. There is a debate regarding fiscal policy which should heat up over the next quarter.
Mortgage Markets: The Treasury and Mortgage Backed Securities markets are losing ground and interest rates are rising slightly. The 10 Year Note is trading at 3.474%.
This Week's Reports: Tuesday: ISM Non-Manufacturing Index & FOMC Minutes Thursday: Jobless Claims
While I do not originate loans I make it a habit to keep abreast of mortgage & market conditions. If you are thinking of purchasing a home the first step is to meet with a mortgage professional. I will gladly provide several top notch Bay Area advisers for your review if you are in need of a referral.
