Just Horsin' Around at Home in Glen Ellen
Friday Photos
Willie and Sonny (the one who's goofing around) are two Clydesdales that belong to my dear friend Neil Shepard. Neil, who happens to be a descendant of author Jack London and has lived on the London Ranch his whole life, has a herd of these critters. In this photo Willie and Sonny are wearing brand new harnesses. Their manes are braided, and their tails are done up in ribbons.
The occassion? It was the Glen Ellen Village Fair, an annual October event that reflects the charm and history of this very special community. Neil and the horses were in the parade....Sonny sure does love puttin on a show!

~ Broadway Comes to Jack London State Park ~
This weekend an unusual gathering nature's critters...in the flesh and on the silver screen...will converge on Jack London State Park for two benefit perfomances to raise money to keep the park from being shut down. Saturday night some very talented actors from Broadway will be performing in a show called "Broadway Under the Stars." Performers from hits like "42nd Street," "Jersey Boys," "Hairspray," and "Mary Poppins" will be featured in Saturday night's show.
The troupe will be performing some of Broadway's most popular musical hits under the direction of Stephan Stubbins, the manager of the Transcendence Theater Company.
On Sunday, there will be a screening of the Walt Disney film "White Fang." Folks are encouraged to bring picnic dinners and to wear warm clothing as both performances will be outdoors.
These programs are being sponsored by the Valley of the Moon Historical Society and additional information is available at this link to the historical society's website.
On an editorial note and quite personally...I hope the critters who call this park their home---the owls, deer, mountain lions, and the bear cub spotted recently---won't be too disturbed by all the commotion. I know the performances are for a good cause and those who plan to attend have their hearts in the "right" place. It just seems to me that there must be a more suitable way to raise the funds that are needed to preserve this natural paradise. Just sayin'............

Glen Ellen Farmer's Market
Sunday's in Glen Ellen will never be the same. Not since the arrival of our new Farmer's Market. Each Sunday from 10am to 2pm vegetable and fruit growers, bakers, and vendors of all sorts of handmade products are set up in Jack London Village on Arnold Drive. The market opened last week and I couldn't get there because, like many real estate agents, I was working. This weekend I had the opportunity to check it out and I will be going back every chance I have. I took my camera along and meant to take more pictures than I did but I spent way too much time talking with the folks who were working the booths. Here are some of the images I captured though...and I'll be posting more soon,,,,,,,,,,,,
The Glen Ellen Farmer's Market is definitely one of my new favorite hang-outs. The Farmer's Market in Sonoma on Tuesday night is wonderful but it's nice to have one on the weekend closer to my home.
