Martin's Beach cabin, Half Moon Bay, 94019Martin's Beach, San Mateo Co, CA 94019There's something appealing about these little secluded cottages, tucked below scenic Highway One south of Half Moon Bay. From the highway one sees a gated drive and undeveloped land a common sight in this rural area. Not until you wind down toward the Pacific Ocean do the cottages come into view.

Martin's Beach cottages are not for everyone. They sit on leased land, with only about 10 years left on the leases, which are not expected to be renewed.

But for the right buyers, they are near perfect, and create memories to be treasured for decades to come. Read more about Martin's Beach and one buyer's experience below:

Two of these cottages are available today. Contact me if you are interested.

A Beautiful Day in Half Moon Bay … and a Glorious Day Off!

Kathleen Daniels, San Jose Short Sale Agent: Real Estate Agent in San Jose, CA

Today was a rare and unusual day. Not only did I take a day off … the weather in Half Moon Bay was perfect!

My son and his girlfriend and I went to Pasta Moon to celebrate my son’s birthday. If you have not been to Pasta Moon, you owe it to yourself to experience it. Pasta Moon is more than a meal – it truly is an experience. Our waiter Pablo gave us exceptional service. Thank you Pasta Moon and thank you Pablo.

We each started with a Martini. My son had a dry Martini with olives. His girlfriend had a Pear Martini and I had a Raspberry Lemon Drop.

Appetizers:

  • Fritto misto - monterey bay calamari, rock shrimp, fennel, red onion, green olive, lemon, capers, spicy marinara, lemon aioli
  • Nectarine Salad – fresh spinach, goat cheese, grilled nectarine, vinaigrette dressing
  • Fresh baked bread - olive oil and balsamic vinegar

Champagne: Bottle of Prosecco

Entrees:

  • Butternut squash & mascarpone ravioli - with sage brown butter, parmesan, amaretti
  • Pappardelle - smoked prosciutto, wild mushrooms, leeks, porcini cream, white truffle oil
  • Tagliatelle Bolognese - milk braised ground pork, beef , pancetta, soffritto, tomato, rosemary, parmesan

Dessert:

  • Strawberry shortcake – fresh strawberries, whip cream, raspberry gelato
  • Chocolate molten cake – french vanilla bean ice cream

Coffee:

  • Double Cappuccinos

A three-hour dining experience! Each dish was shared between the three of us.

After our delightful meal we drove to my favorite beach. Great exercise for us. Not the drive - the hike down to the beach. Hopefully we worked off some of the incredible meal.

My grand-dog Molly got some serious playtime too!

It was a beautiful day in Half Moon Bay. My stomach and heart is full.

I look forward to another glorious week ahead.

Central Ca Short Sales and Creamed Chile Soup!

Jim Patton - Realtor , CDPE, SFR Stanislaus County Short Sale Specialist: Real Estate Agent in Turlock, CA

Half Moon Bay CaBeing a Central Ca Short Sale Specialist is not all work and no play. Every once in a while I need to get away for a day and decompress. One of the great things about living in the central Valley of California is that we are so close to some great things.

This past Saturday was one of those days for me to get away. Just a short drive from the Central Valley is Half Moon Bay Ca. Half Moon bay is located about 30 miles south of San Francisco.

This day started out with the sun shining but soon the fog rolled in. Of course even a foggy day at the ocean is great. If you are ever in the area stop in at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. While this time I did not eat there I did enjoy a Mavericks Amber Ale. I have eaten there on previous trips and the food is good. The owners are also from my home town of Turlock in California's Central Valley.

Duarte's TavernI had different plans for lunch on this day. About 15 miles south of Half Moon bay is the tiny little town of Pescadero. The town has a population of a little over 2000 people.

Right in the middle of downtown Pescadero is the famous Duarte's Tavern. Duarte's has been around since 1894. They are famous for their artichoke soup and pies. But that was not why I came back here.

Also on the menu is a Creamed Green Chile Soup. It is made with Anahiem Chiles and is awesome. It is also served with hot sourdough bread. I also had the calamari steak sandwich and that was very good too. According to their website Duarte's serves over 13,000 people a month. That's a lot of soup!

It was suggested that I add the recipe for the creamed chile soup so here it is.

If you are ever in this part of the world do yourself a favor and stop in.

Now it's back to the Central Valley and Short Sales.
