A neighbor's garage isn't an ideal view, but it's better than their bedroom. Getting a couple of miles into the countryside is better still, for the chance to see a little more of what nature intended us to see. Green, green, and more green if you live in Dry Creek Valley near Healdsburg.

I have posted scenes from a Dry Creek Road listing on the north east side of the valley. Today's picture is taken from the other side of the valley in an almost opposite position. The line of trees marching left to right in the middle of the picture mark the location of Dry Creek, a major tributary to the Russian River and path of the outflow from Warm Springs Dam and Lake Sonoma.

I'm lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world. Luther Burbank considered Sonoma County to be "the chosen spot of all the earth as far as nature is concerned". Within this vibrant and varied county are many landscapes that can capture the eye. The coast is hard to beat for drama. The massive redwoods of Armstrong Woods are hard to beat for grandeur and silent majesty. When it comes time to choose just one spot, however, I may choose the view from the front lawn of a new listing at 8500 Dry Creek Road.
