There are some amazing bargains now on the market for those seeking a golf course home in one of La Quinta's top-drawer country clubs. Bank-owned homes and short sales crop up regularly—and show no signs of abating—in almost every upscale gated community throughout the Palm Springs valley; the best bargains are quickly pounced on by alert ready-to-act buyers.
This property in Mountain View Country Club is one of those. Technically a short sale, the 2975 square-foot home just fell out of escrow so the new price of $499,900 is probably one that the lender will now accept. The home was purchased at the height of the market in 2005 for $884K and first came on the market the following year for a cool $1.15M. It is now going for $168/square foot, a veritable steal for a home in a La Quinta luxury country club.
This Belize floorplan—one of the most popular—boasts 3 bedrooms and 4 baths on an elevated lot overlooking the Arnold Palmer course with lake and mountain views. The spacious, light-filled home is oriented to the morning sun. A lovely pool with elevated spa accents the private backyard.
Granite-slabbed gourmet kitchen, 20" tile floors, formal dining room and fireplace round out the amenities. There's even a casita overlooking the front courtyard for guests.
I recently profiled a lender-owned home in Mountain View which, interestingly enough, happens to be next door to this home. That home did not have a pool or spa, was priced at $500K (a breakthrough price for a golf-course home in this club), and quickly went into escrow. This is an even better deal and I predict it will quickly find another buyer.

If you have a predilection for this club or are intrigued with discovering more about its many charms, give me a call for more information. I am happy to discuss La Quinta's many other amazing country clubs as well.

This incredible La Quinta country club bank-owned home in Mountain View Country Club is a veritable bargain and will sell quickly. If you've been seeking a foreclosure or distress sale in one of La Quinta's golf course communities, this is the one to act on.
The three bedroom, four bath home sits on an elevated lot overlooking the Arnold Palmer course with lake and mountain views.
Oriented toward the morning sun, the spacious, light-filled home begins with a grand circular foyer and opens up to a great room with dining area, clerestory windows, granite-slabbed kitchen with GE stainless appliances (including the built-in fridge), bar area, and fireplace. The 2811 square foot home also includes a formal dining room and separate study/den/game room.
The Sedona floorplan features 20" ceramic tile and carpet, extended back patio with overhang, laundry room with sink, and double-car garage.
The capacious master suite boasts a huge bath replete with travertine walls and counters, a jetted tub, shower, and huge walk-in closet.
There is plenty of room for a pool and spa.
Purchased in 2007 for $825K, the home was originally on the market at $849K. Now priced way below comps at $500K, the price-per-square foot is only $177. A home across the street is listed for sale at $850K. Because this is a straight bank-owned sale and not a short sale, the bank will accept the low list price.
Now the least expensive golf-course home in Mountain View CC and the lowest price ever offered for such a home, this amazing bargain lowers the bar for entry into this exclusive La Quinta club.

Mountain View Country Club is one of the newer country clubs in La Quinta, debuting in 2003 and now selling final-phase homes and condos. Built around an 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Course, the award-winning Toll Brothers development features Spanish Colonial architecture, a beautiful clubhouse and restaurant, and an expansive 7,000 square-foot tennis, spa and fitness center. Community pools punctuate the enclave.
This club has a very wide-open feel to it with many of the homes perched on bluffs overlooking the expansive fairways.
Upon completion, the guard-gated community will number 425 semi-custom homes (Villas, Reserve and Vistas collections, 2500sf to 4,500sf) and 50 condominiums (The Village). Located on Jefferson Street in La Quinta, Mountain View boasts a vibrant social scene and flexible membership options for golf and social privileges.
Because of the market downturn, there are amazing bargains to be found in the club. When The Village at Mountain View condos debuted in 2006, prices ranged from $630K to $985K while home prices ranged from $900K to $2M. New condo prices now range from $470K to $530K. Home prices span the spectrum at price reductions of 25% and higher.
