Beautiful Lake Elsinore

Barbara Lincoln: Mortgage Company in Lake Elsinore, CA

My beautiful city has a bad reputation. It's like the girl in high school who everyone thinks is slutty but isn't really. What does she do to shrug off the bad rap and get people to see her for the lovely little angel that she is?

I think the only way is to get to know her.

Go to one of her picturesque lakeside parks with a picnic. Sitting at the beach watching the boats and jet skis is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours relaxing. Nothing is prettier than the blue sky and sparkling water on a hot summers day.

Take a walk down her quaint little main street. Day or night it is a great place to poke around the shops have a coffee or a cocktail and just chill. There are great restaurants from classy to casual, live music, even a tea house that serves a proper english high tea on Saturday afternoons.

The history of our city abounds. Take a look around the museum, you'll be surprised at what an interesting history she has. The plans for the future are even more surprising. We are definitely making changes in her appearance..

I think if you open your mind and your heart to our little town you may just end up asking her to the prom.

Well, In Lake Elsinore, The Storm has a unique idea for their Tuesday night games. In addition to all you can eat for $13, the first 250 fans will receive their very own Subtle Butt.

subtle butt

Listen, you can't make this stuff up, really. If you think about it, an all you can eat promotion does carry built-in hazards. At least The Storm is thinking about its fans. Play Ball!

Are You a Man or a Mouse?

Heather Chavez, Second Self Virtual Assistance (928) 412-4469: Virtual Assistant in Riverside, CA

Scared of a mouse? You're not the only one! When I was pregnant, my husband and I rented one side of a duplex owned by my husband's Uncle Fred. Living out in an undeveloped area of Lake Elsinore, CA meant that the days were quiet, but the nights were full of life. One evening, when I was about six months pregnant, Uncle Fred came over to visit. It wasn't a very far way to travel, since he and his wife lived in the other half of the duplex. Suddenly, a small, scurrying movement caught the corner of my husband's eye. Both Uncle Fred and I, of course, turned and gasped. EEK! A mouse! And I ain't talkin' Mickey. My husband, being brought up in a hunting family (it was the best way to make sure food was on the table), grabbed his pellet rifle (a mouse doesn't require a shotgun) and "hunted down" the mouse. He cornered the little bugger behind the wood box next to our pot belly stove that served as the only source of heat in the house. He told me and his uncle to stay on the couch on the other side of the room while he attended to the task at hand. When my husband got a bead on "Mickey", a shot rang out, the mouse jumped up from behind the wood box into full view of both me and Uncle Fred and ran into the other room, where he promptly fell over and died. That little burst of adrenaline felt by the mouse was matched in intensity only by the scream emanating from Uncle Fred. This almost 50 year old, burly little former military man had jumped up on the couch and screamed like a little girl! This story is still a subject of teasing in our house almost 15 years later.

A Conversation with Lake Elsinore Mayor Bob Magee

Gene Wunderlich - Realtor®, Government Affairs Director: Real Estate Agent in Temecula, CA

The Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce presented 'A Conversation with Mayor Bob Magee' on March 19 in the Diamond Club at Storm Stadium.

The Mayor detailed a positive and optimistic summary of Lake Elsinore today. He stressed the job growth and new businesses in the area, new restaurants, auto dealers and retail stores. There is fresh development in and around the city as they look to capitalize on their unique aquatic attraction. They've also just opened the first golf course in 80 years - The Links at Summerly. The Mayor said that while the city coffers are off by some 16% this year, the City is financially stable - no threats there either.

Following his overview, the Mayor answered questions from the audience addressing everything from lake front development to city street paving projects. He also addressed his concerns with the threatened recall of one council member, hoping that the City would not be subject to either the cost - estimated at anywhere from $30,000 to $60,000 dollars, or the time it would waste.

SCLC Chair Roger Ziemer also provided a brief overview of current negotiations to get the newly expanded Rancho Springs Medical Center open. If the state certification committee refuses to take positive action, SCLC, SRCAR and others will be launching a campaign aimed at bringing this travesty to the Governors attention. Of course he's heard about it but he hasn't HEARD about it from a few thousand people impacted by this in the Temecula Valley.

Mayor Magee also talked about the Thunder in the Channel this weekend when the Lake will play drag strip for the NJBA Drag Boat Racing Series. There are several tournaments coming up at The Links, The Storm host opening night on April 9th, and to find out more of the good things happening in Lake Elsinore, just tap the logo below.
