If you're in Marin County stop by Horse Hill in the Altos section of Mill Valley
I love cruising the back roads of Mill Valley to find the little gems that make up such a marvelous place. Today I cruised up to Horse Hill in the Altos section of Mill Valley. Altos is small neighborhood to the East of E. Blythedale. Its in the flat lands of Mill Valley and it seems that its much warmer in this neighborhood than a lot of other neighborhoods. Homes vary in price from the upper $500s to $1.895M. You find everything from small ranchers to enormous homes with large wrap around porches. Most homes sit on really big lots and the culture of the neighborhood is very unpretentious and more down to earth. Lots of families with small children in the neighborhood as Edna McGuire elementary school, Ring Mountain Day School, as is Birds Nest pre-school.
Quiet and lovely section of Mill Valley but the most beautiful aspect of the neighborhood is Horse Hill. Horse Hill sits between the Altos section of Mill Valley and Scotts Valley. Once you climb the very steep hill you'll pass a water trough, round a corner and if you don't see the horses yet you'll see them at the next bend. Last I counted there were 11 horses. The day that I went up the hill the skies were blue, the clouds were big and its was just me and horses overlooking the beautiful Mill Valley homes strewn between the verdant view and redwood trees.
Horse Hill is the perfect place to go if you just want to get away from everything and have quiet meditative moments or perhaps the perfect spot if you want to impress someone with a fantastic picnic spot.
