ABOUT MISSION HILLS, CA: Mission Hills is a suburban community in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles, California. Mission Hills is bordered to the to the west by Interstate 405 and Interstate 5 to the north and east. Also the Granada Hills district lies to the west and Sylmar to the north. The southern portion of Mission Hills is also considered part of the Sepulveda district of Los Angeles. The community is notable as the location of Mission San Fernando Rey de España. The Andrés Pico Adobe, the second oldest residence still standing in Los Angeles is also here, it represents a bygone era and the rich historical past of the San Fernando Valley. The San Fernando Mission Cemetery is adjacent to the historic San Fernando Mission Rey de Espaa in Mission Hills. Founded on September 8, 1797, the mission is the seventeenth of the twenty-one missions founded by the Franciscans in California.
