I love a good ice cream place.
I even love a bad ice cream place – if there even is such a thing?
Somehow you can always tell a really good ice cream place – the line out the door is one good indicator. And of course locals can always tell you THE ice cream place to check out.
And offering creative flavors other than the typical vanilla and chocolate is, in my mind, the mark of a good ice cream place.
Fentons Creamery is in the heart of the Piedmont neighborhood in Oakland California where it has been since 1961 (with a second location in Vacaville), and well worth a visit…any time of the day. Who says ice cream is just for desert after dinner?
Fentons Creamery is a winning combination of great tasting cream, terrific friendly service, family history, and the feel of a successful business that was originally established over 100 years ago, and knows how to do ice cream well.
There is both indoor and outdoor dining (with table service) as well as some benches for those who want to take out. Not only do you get great ice cream but they serve grilled sandwiches, salads, burgers and other delights as well.
But let’s not forget it’s all about the ice cream at Fentons Creamery. Check it out – I did yesterday. The toasted almond caramel or whatever it was called was stellar!

I scream, You scream, we all scream for Ice Cream!
The ice cream hot spot in Oakland CA is Fenton’s Creamery on Piedmont Ave. Fenton’s has been around since 1894 , and after a kitchen fire, the ice creamery was rebuilt and has been busy ever since.
Even on a rainy day there will be lines to get into the ice creamery. Although the wait may be long, the service is fast and it’s definitely worth a visit..
My favorite ice cream to order is the FudgeAnna, three types of ice cream, banana’s and fudge drizzle below the whipped cream and of course, the cherry on top. The portions are so large if I know I’m ordering a fudgeanna, I will make it my dinner- really!
The favorite ice cream dish to watch someone order is (enter any sunday creation you see from the gallery of photo's ). I’m always amazed when I look again and realize they have finished it. Now that’s a true ice cream lover. Another plus is the quality ingredients Fenton’s uses, such as, Nieman Ranch beef for their burgers.
The also offer ice cream for those on the go or who prefer to eat at home. Fenton’s ice cream is an Oakland landmark and a great place for groups, couples, or anyone looking to share in a birthday celebration.

Adesso is an Italian wine bar that is known for their house made salumi, small plates, pate varieties and their happy hour where they serve you free food while you enjoy a glass of bubbly, a cocktail, or a nice red wine. To see a complete list of lunch or dinner items take a preview online.
My personal favorite is the Adesso Sub which consists of mortadella, prosciutto cotto, salame, cotto little gems, onion, peperoncini.
When they originally opened they would have a buffet spread on the side of the bar. Now they bring you a plate of delicious food to your table while you enjoy your drinks wiith friends. In addition, the latest addition to the restaurant is a Foosball table- fun!
Dopo is just a few blocks down and is there sister restaurant so if you find yourself wanting more of a good thing, try Dopo, ,you won't be disappointed.

The other day I decided it was time to try a new place to get a pedicure and found myslef at Polilsh on Piedmont Ave. It was so relaxing, the place is clean, the chairs are private, it's definitely a place I will find myself going back to.
I haven't had a chance to try their other services but the offer waxing and facials too. If you are getting nail services, don't forget to ask for a nial packet. It's your own personal nail supplies to keep and you get fifty cents off each nail service when you bring it in with you.
