Oceanside, California --Delivering New Recycling Containers!

Oceanside, California in its endeavors to update its recycling program is delivering 5,000 new trash recycling bins. As of Monday 96% of residential households in the city of Oceanside, California had received the new carts from Waste Management Of North County. Starting this week Waste Management will exchange container for people who want a different size than the standard 96 gallon containers. The carts come in three sizes 35, 64 and 96 gallons. Many Oceanside residents order the larger size and since they have had time to use them, find them to be not as user friendly and are ordering the smaller size.

Approximately 20% single family households are asking for the smaller containers. Exchanges are free and must be arranged by appointment. The new containers replace small mil crate sized boxes city residents have been using for recycling and the barrels and plastic bags they used for putting trash out by the curb to be picked up.

Please put out the old container by the curb--so Waste Management can come by and pick up.

Scripps Health Center Buys Building in Oceanside, California.

Scripps Health has purchased a new medical office building in Oceanside, California. the 33,500 square foot building at 4318 Mission Ave will house 10 Scripps doctors and 40 employees from the existing Mission Aveue medical center, which Scripps Health has leased. Scripps expects to eventually have 20 physicians at the site. The new building is nearly double the size of the current one.

Scripps Health will move to the new site over the next several months and plans to have it fully open in July 2012.

Low-Income Taxpayers, Can Get "Free" Help At Local Oceanside, California Library!

Low-Income Taxpayers, Can Get Help At Local Oceanside, California Library, volunteers from Intuit will help lower-income taxpayers prepare and file their taxes for free Saturday at the Oceanside Public Library using TurboTax software. To be eligible, a person should have an adjusted gross income of $31,000 or less in 2011, or be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit or have been on active military duty and earned $57,000 or less. The free service is part of a statewide tour sponsored by the Computer & Communications Industry Association and Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation. The event is 10A.M., to 3P.M, Saturday at the library located at 330 N. Coast Highway, Oceanside, California.

Oceanside, California house market report for December 2011.

Oceanside, at an average price of $332,000 for a detached house, is one of the more affordable areas in North San Diego County. Residents love it here because of its great coastal location. Therefore, the number of sales has been high.

The totals for detached houses in Oceanside in December, 2011, show 131 homes sold and 693 homes available. That gives us only 117 days of inventory, a little less than four months supply. Usually, 5 to 6 months of inventory is considered a balanced market. Therefore Oceanside houses are actually in a sellers market. Unfortunately for sellers, sales prices have not followed suit with a low inventory. The average sale price rose only 1/10 of 1% and the median sales price was down 6% year-over-year 2011.

Sales in Oceanside were up 12% over December, 2010 and the inventory is up almost 30% over December, 2010, giving Oceanside homebuyers a good selection of homes to choose from.

Of the 693 houses and condos currently available in Oceanside, only 40 of them are bank owned or REO houses. This is down significantly from previous years.
