The City of Palm Desert and Palm Desert Real Estate

Elaine Stewart, Palm Springs Real Estate: Real Estate Agent in Palm Springs, CA

The city of Palm Desert looks, sounds, and feels like a paradise. There is sunshine year round and the people living here are friendly. The scenery is the most breathtaking around with a nice selection of diversions to keep you feeling in awe of the landscape. This desert resort is located in the center of the Coachella Valley which is the heart of Southern California. It is perfect for those who seek to live amongst pleasure and be active or as relaxed as their personality will accommodate.

While the snows rage in the winter months in some areas of the country, Palm Desert has a wonderful daytime temperature of a comfortable 70 - 80 degrees. This oasis in the desert is surrounded by three snow capped mountain ranges keeping it safe from the pollution of the coast and the cold weather it experiences. The skies are always blue in the City of Palm Desert because of the 350 days each year that the weather is perfect for anything you choose to do.

The city of Palm Desert is the perfect location choice for the individual with an active lifestyle or those who love the outdoors. You can start your outdoor adventure by examining and enjoying the desert foliage and unique geology as you travel about the area in a jeep. Once completed, you can see things from a different angle as you take a hot air balloon ride or charter a private plane and take stock in the polo fields and groves of dates to the east side and the unique and miraculous rock formations of the San Andreas fault to the west side.

No time spent in the City of Palm Desert would be complete without riding on the close by famous Palm Springs Aerial Tramway that takes you to the top of the San Jacinto mountain. You will rise 2.5 miles in only fifteen minutes time to take in the breathtaking wilderness as you seat comfortably in the world's largest glass tramcar. Once you are at the top, you can enjoy the beautiful picturesque views of the mountains which surround the restaurant, observation deck, and lounge. Hikers will love the dozens of easily marked trails. Snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snow camping, and snow shoeing are available in the right season of the year.

Once on the desert floor, you can take a trip to see the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. This attraction stretches over 1200 acres to include the most beautiful florals and animals of all types that will scurry and fly past. You will be witness to some of the wild creatures including 400 exotic and native creatures found in the deserts of the world. The entire family will love the scenic trails and botanical gardens with all their colors. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens offer picnic areas, a gift shop, and a cafe. The Native American exhibits and year round events are the reason this is one of the most popular places to see in the City of Palm Desert. For the adventurous one, the self guided tours of the "Art in Public Places", featuring over a hundred various works of art is something to enjoy.

If you love the game of golf, you will enjoy the 32 public courses or one of the private country club settings available. There are over a hundred golf courses in the Coachella Valley and some are of world class quality or championship levels. The new courses in the area are located within the Desert Willow Golf Resort,18 hole courses owned by the City of Palm Desert. Firecliff and Mountain View golf courses have the respect of golfers everywhere because of the challenge they present. The Smithsonian Magazine has recognized these courses as the ones offering the most beautiful landscapes and natural blending of the terrain with the beautiful lush greens.

If you are one who prefer to watch the game of golf instead of play, you will enjoy the many celebrity and professional events to include the Skins Game, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, The LPGA Nabisco Dinah Shore and the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational. These are nationally televised programs that are located in the area.

For those who love tennis, you will be able to take in some great matches as you watch the Pacific Life Open held in Indian Wells. If you prefer to play the game, you will love the lessons and courts at the many Palm Desert public and private tennis courts. Take some time to see the top international and local professional and amateur tennis players compete in matches. This runs from March 9th to the 22nd.

The region offers a mix of events through the year that will meet any ones needs. It might be the Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade in the month of November or the Nortel Networks Palm Springs International Film Festival in the month of January. Free movies and concerts are also a great thing to experience in the civic center park on Thursday nights through the summer months.

If you love to shop, the reputation of the City of Palm Desert is known for its great sales and shops. There is a bargain hunters paradise waiting to be found here at the College of the Desert Street Fair. Exclusive shops are found in the shopping district. A mile of the best art galleries, beauty salons, jewelry stores, home decor stores, haute couturiers, apparel shops, and specialty boutiques are here to waste the hours away finding the right item. After shopping all day, one can enjoy the 24 restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and bistros along El Paso. Most have seating outdoors so you can watch the people going by or just enjoy the beautiful weather.

For fine dining, you can enjoy one of the Palm Desert's 150 restaurants. Dining outdoors is a definite luxury in this beautiful climate. You can take in the breathtaking scenery as you enjoy the Italian, French, Mexican, Japanese, Thai, Greek, seafood, Chinese, or other cuisines of your choosing. There is even an Irish Pub which serves the best in a boiled diner for those wanting to experience the old world charm of Ireland.

College of the Desert Women's Soccer Program in Need of Sponsors

Laxson Associates l Desert Communities: Real Estate Agent in Palm Desert, CA

My daughter is a soccer player. She has been playing soccer since she was 6 years old and her teammates chased the ball around like bumblebees on the field. She played all four years at her high school and is now playing as a freshman at College of the Desert (COD). Because of the budget cuts throughout California, the women's soccer team's funding has been cut. Right now they are trying to raise funds for their road trips, training, team gear and other expenses. If you are a soccer mom or dad, grandparent, relative of a soccer player or simply a fan of youth sports and wish to donate to the College of the Desert soccer program, any help you give would be GREATLY appreciated.

There are three ways you can donate:

It should be a wonderful time for all! By the way, I read recently that the Villages in Florida are now in the Guinness Book of World Records for hosting the "World's Largest Golf Cart Parade" in September 2005. They had 3,391 golf carts participating in their parade. Maybe we should consider challenging their record someday soon... I think we have more golf carts than that in our desert communities!
