The last time I went fishing was a deep sea adventure gone wrong. I was a Florida resident at the time and my sister and family were visiting for my birthday. Always one to want to provide my guests with a good time, I booked a deep sea fishing day trip expedition.
The sea was a bit rough as we boarded the rather rickety boat (what's that old saying if it sounds too good to be true...) and headed out to sea. I won't bore you with the day-old coffee, dirty bathroom and a cook still trying to recover from last night's binge stories. I will say it was hot, the fish were not biting and only a few family members were left standing a few hours into the trip. Can anyone say mass seasickness?
This roller coaster, ferris wheel loving mama has a stomach made for rocking and rolling on the seas, but I can't say the same for immediate family. I did precious little fishing, but a whole lot of wiping sweaty brows and helping kids and adults lean overboard when hit by another round of sickness. Fun.
We came home with no fish, but a family of dolphins followed the boat to shore and the kids were finally able to enjoy an aquatic show with dolphin babies turning somersaults in mid-air. Seagulls swooped and dipped above the frothy water and I heard subdued laughter from my clan.
We cheered when land appeared on the horizon.
However, for you hearty souls with sea-legs and stomachs, fishing opportunities are available from land, piers and boats in the South Bay of Los Angeles. According to Palos Verdes Patch fishing expert here's what's on the fishing menu for the area.

Are you wondering what to do this weekend? If so, lucky you, as there is always something cultural, comic or just plain fun happening in and around Palos Verdes.
Before I began my real estate career ( and started working weekends) one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday was checking out antique shops and shows in the South Bay. Art galleries and shows always pull me in too.
Palos Verdes Patch always has a wealth of information about life on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It is filled with news and social happenings on The Hill. It's a great source for things to do and see in Palos Verdes on a daily basis. A few of this weekend's suggestions are:

Why go: The exhibition focuses on three artists who offer different perspectives and approaches to art making. It will feature three Los Angeles-based artists: Quinton Bemiller, Alexandra Wiesenfeld and David B. Jang. Also, see a group exhibition of artwork by PV Art Center students.

Downtown Torrance antique street fair

I love Afternoon Tea. I find it very relaxing and it leaves me feeling pampered yet energized. In my quest to sample all local offerings, I have learned that Afternoon Tea is what you see above. High Tea is actually a supper meal. The closest location for Afternoon Tea is Trump National, however, it is served during regular lunch hours. Mar’sel at Terranea would be a perfect location (which I have suggested to management) but I have not seen any movement there yet. I have had to widen my circle out of Palos Verdes in my search for Afternoon Tea.
Yesterday, I had an excellent Afternoon Tea at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. It is my new favorite. Four of us drove to Beverly Hills on a Sunday morning and there was no traffic – love that. Click here to read more about Afternoon Tea near Palos Verdes...
