Pilot Peak Winery held its annual Barrel Tasting event this weekend, March 27 and March 28. They brought out about 10 barrels of various red wines, including Zinfandel, Syrah, Primitivo, Cabernet Franc, and several others. It was fun having them draw out the wines from a long syringe directly from the barrels. They also offered a nice spread of food, and chocolate tasting.
The best part was everything was free. Pilot Peak Winery has ample grounds for entertaining, with three levels and many tables that can accommodate hundreds of people.
It is a must see visit in the Penn Valley area in Nevada County in the Sierra Nevadas.
