Sub Station - The BEST Sandwiches in Riverside CA

Heather Chavez, Real Estate Virtual Assistant (928) 692-3235: Virtual Assistant in Caldwell, ID

The Sub Station, located at 3663 Canyon Crest Drive, is the best sandwich shop in Riverside, CA, and quite possibly all of Southern California.

When my husband asked me where I wanted to go to eat lunch today, the first thing that popped into my head was Sub Station (3663 Canyon Crest Drive, Riverside, CA). If you're from the area, you are well aware of what Sub Station has to offer. If you're not, well, first I have to say "Sucks to be you." And then I would have to say that Sub Station has the BEST sandwiches in Riverside, CA. Dare I say, they have the best sandwiches in the county? Yes. I dare. In fact, I'll go even further to tell you that Sub Station has quite possibly the best sandwiches in Southern California. They are THAT good!

Begun in 1972, Sub Station has been on the University of Riverside campus since gas cost $0.33/gallon and a brand new Volkswagen Bug cost $2200. They're almost as old as I am. They have been a mainstay on the campus because they offer the best cold sandwiches around. Our personal favorite is the Big Dude, a gastrointestinal delight that includes cappocolla, dry salami, pepperoni, ham and cheese. We share the big 12". My son loves the meatball subs. But, it appears that lots of people do since they tend to run out of meatballs towards the late afternoon. Luckily, we were early enough today that he actually got to enjoy one.

Outdoor seating is available at the Sub Station sandwich shop in Riverside, CA My son gives The Sub Station two crooked thumbs up I present, "The Big Dude" sandwich at the Sub Station in Riverside CA

The Sub Station has employeed UCR students since it first began. You can enjoy a visual trip through the Sub Station's ever-changing student roster simply by looking on the walls. There are photo collages of many of the student workers from the last 38 years there. They even serve Bud Light on tap and a variety of bottled beer to the over-21 crowd. All sandwiches are served on butcher paper, a much better alternative to styrafoam plates.

Sub Station can get quite busy sometimes. So there are two separate indoor seating areas as well as an outdoor seating area to enjoy their great sub sandwiches under a sunny Southern California afternoon. They offer catering for any occasion, including weddings, office parties and birthday parties. They are open from 10:30am-7:45pm Monday through Saturday and 11am-6pm on Sundays.

If you are hankering for a mouth-watering good sandwich, head to Sub Station - the BEST sandwiches in Riverside CA and, quite possibly, all of Southern California. You can thank me later!

B-I-N-G-O in R-I-V-ERSIDE!

Heather Chavez, Real Estate Virtual Assistant (928) 692-3235: Virtual Assistant in Caldwell, ID

In my household, I am affectionately referred to as the "Bingo Whore". Don't laugh, my mother is the "Slot Slut" (she is addicted to those little one-armed bandits). I have always had fun playing Bingo thanks to the array of colorful characters that frequent these places. The games may change from bingo hall to bingo hall, but the players remain colorful no matter where you live. So, when I heard about this fabulous event going on at the University Village in Riverside, CA, I just had to go. From 6-7:30pm, the public is welcome to come and play Bingo for FREE! Prizes are donated by the local businesses, including Denny's, Game Stop, Fat Burger, the University Village Cinema and various restaurants located in the village. There were also passes for the San Diego County Fair given away. My son and I went last Wednesday night and came SO CLOSE to winning. We both were only 1 number away from winning the prize package that included a Game Stop gift card (thus the face of defeat below when we both lost). I was also 1 number away from winning 2 of the other 5 games, including the final blackout! What heartbreak! Once we lost out on the Game Stop gift card, my son lost interest. But, I think I have him hooked. He's going back with me tonight to see if maybe one of us can win that Game Stop gift card prize package. By the way, tonight is the last night of the series this year. It will be back next June. Wish me luck!

The face of defeat!
There will be lots of people at the Free bingo at University Village Riverside, so show up early!

Very Sweet Berry Sweet

Heather Chavez, Real Estate Virtual Assistant (928) 692-3235: Virtual Assistant in Caldwell, ID

Enjoy fresh fruit on top of your frozen yogurt at Berry Sweet in Riverside CAWhile Pinkberry is more of an LA deal, we in the Inland Empire have our Berry Sweet. It is a family-owned business that offers tart and tangy frozen yogurt with tons of toppings to choose from. You have your choice of a dozen different flavors on any given day and over 20 different toppings, which range from fresh fruit to mini peanut butter cups. Located in the University Village, just up the street from the University of California at Riverside, Berry Sweet is a self-serve frozen yogurt paradise. Since it just so happens to be conveniently located just up the street from my son's school, we decided early on in the school year that we would beat the Monday blues by stopping in at Berry Sweet on the way home as a nice pick-me-up. It makes Mondays much more bearable in Riverside. All flavors are non-fat and they always offer at least one sugar-free flavor. So, it makes a healthier alternative to ice cream. My son likes to pile a ton of sugar-filled sweets onto his frozen yogurt while I always go for the fat-free, sugar-free strawberry/banana topped with fresh sliced kiwi and strawberries. They slice up their fruit fresh every day (definitely NOT from a can with nasty syrup or anything). This little slice of heaven will only cost you $0.37/ounce. And, I don't have to feel guilty about indulging every once in a while. By the way, make sure you drop a little something into the Karms (tip) jar. These guys deserve it.
