Cooperating Brokers???

Can't we all just get along?

Well I had a great idea, at least I thought it was a good one. We are constantly told to think outside the box. To be creative in our efforts to reach the public.

So in conjunction with National Open House day I came up with the brilliant idea of hosting a community Open House event.

I contacted all of the listing agents with active listings in the Victoria Woods Community and gave them my sales pitch. Let's create some hoopla, some energy and buzz. Let's hold the homes open from 12 - 4 on Saturday. I would create a map with directions to the various homes. We could have balloons, cookies, flowers everything, and anything, we could think of to generate a buzz.

To my surprise my overtures were greeted with skepticism if not outright hostility. I could hear the wheels turning as the agent on the other end of the line attempted to assess the possibilities. Was I attempting to usurp their listing? Was I trying to influence the sellers? With sincerity I believe the universe is abundant. Yes there is only a small pool of qualified buyers for each home. However with brokers cooperating together we may each gain more. I readily admitted I was open to suggestions but the overall goal was to drive traffic to our listings with the ultimate goal of receiving a contract and opening escrow.

However I intend to continue developing the concept and will contact the agents again this week with the intention of hosting the Victoria Woods Community Open House Event. Tenacity and preseverence have become my new passwords. Hopefully this type of cooperative activity may lead to sales for us all.
