If your elementary age child attends Dapplegray Elementary School in Rolling Hills Estates they are in for a techie treat. A new computer lab complete with iPads and Kindles will help the school's 650 kindergarten through fifth graders embrace the digital world. The ribbon cutting ceremony is Sunday 3-5 PM and will be culmination of a six-year capital campaign. I'm sure the students and staff will give a well-deserved shout-out to the major donors.
This is a wonderful example of the importance of education in the Palos Verdes Peninsula community. The willingness of parents and residents to contribute to the education of the children is a worthwhile investment and the return immeasurable. The benefit of early hands-on experience will help these early learners develop and incorporate the language of technology into their daily life as students in a digital world.
Today, the first thing I check upon awaking is my email via my iPhone. Often, there is a text message waiting from my eastern friends and family. I'm currently working on a digital listing presentation via iPad. Real estate documents are signed via e-signatures, files are stored in the clouds and the list goes on. The list of techie tools introduced, and now absolutely necessary, to conduct our daily business and life is nothing short of amazing and somewhat overwhelming.
Kudos to the contributors and congratulations to the Dapplegray students for getting a head-start on learning the language that makes the world go around. As a former teacher, I'm certain computer lab will be everyone's favorite class.

The City Council of Rolling Hills Estates approved the planning application for additions and upgrades to the city owned Peter Weber Equestrian Center. Over $1.7 million in work is currently proposed (funded by grants/propositions) and would finish around October.
Per the PVP News article by Mary Scott, the Center "will get a state-of-the-art prefabricated steel barn at the back of the property, a new restroom, and a new covered area for feed, manure and shavings.
There will be little to no changes to the existing barn at the front of the property, along Crenshaw Boulevard, and the riding rings, Planning Director David Wahba said."
The Center is located near the Palos Verdes Drive North and Crenshaw intersection and is privately run.
