About San Diego's Balboa Park

At the San Diego Zoo with Realtor Jim Frimmer: Zebras

Jim Frimmer, San Diego Mission Valley Realtor: Real Estate Agent in San Diego, CA

If you leave a comment, Jim will visit your blog and comment. Some of the animals at the San Diego Zoo are rarely visible, either because they need privacy to live well, or they just don't like to have their pictures taken.

I've never been able to determine which one the zebras fall under, but they rarely are visible or close enough to see well.

So a good telephoto lens will help, as long as they are out in the open. If they are just a few feet from you, AND you have a telephoto lens, well so much the better. That's just what I found at the Zoo the other day, so since it's highly unlikely that you'll get a good view of the zebras when you go to see them during the 2009 NAR Convention here in San Diego, I give you the following pictures for this Speechless Sunday. Zebras certainly are beautiful.

Mission Valley condos, San Diego CA: Things to do - The San Diego Zoo

Jim Frimmer, San Diego Mission Valley Realtor: Real Estate Agent in San Diego, CA

If you leave a comment, Jim will visit your blog and comment.Once you buy your Mission Valley condo, I would suggest a trip to the San Diego Zoo as soon as you can get there.

Annual passes are very reasonable, especially when you consider that you not only get in FREE to the San Diego Zoo, but also the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

When you go to the Zoo, I can highly recommend going to bed early the night before your scheduled trip so that you can get there at 9:00 in the morning, when the Zoo opens.

The advantage of getting there early are manifold:

  1. You'll get a prime parking spot
  2. No waiting in long lines
  3. You'll be able to immediately visit the exhibits you want to see
  4. You'll get got watch many of the animals being fed
  5. Since many animals are being fed, they are up and at 'em, eating, cleaning, and, uh, pooping, before they bed down for an afternoon siesta.

One of the great things that the San Diego Zoo does is run various specials for its members throughout the year. One of those specials is a very personal tour. The tour guide drives you around in your own special little cart with about ten people.

In some cases, you'll even get to feed the animals, as this little group was doing at the Galapagos tortoise exhibit:

Personal tour at the Galapagos tortoise exhibit, San Diego Zoo

The tortoises know that when a crowd of people arrive, they are going to get fed. Apparently, carrots are to the Galapagos tortoise what chocolate is to the human race -- LOL.

One of the women was wearing orangle sandles, and one of the alpha males immediately saw those two carrots and took after them. Fortunately, the Zookeeper was there to get things back under control.

One of the tortoises refuses to eat carrots when the crowds are there. He likes to eat in private. However, that might be because he likes to have his neck rubbed instead:

I believe his name is Chips, and he just stood there in that position from beginning to end. He wouldn't eat anything, but he let everyone rub his neck.

SST (Speechless Sunday with Text): Baby meerkat

Russel Ray, San Diego Marketing & Business Consultant: Real Estate Media in La Mesa, CA

If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment.Usually I plan my trips to the San Diego Zoo, but today I was caught totally off guard because I was at a Client's home. She has had an excellent second quarter, and her husband decided to reward her with a trip to the Zoo. Since I keep a lot of free passes in my car, I gave them two, at which point they invited me to go with them.

Uh-oh.

My handy dandy new Canon Rebel XSi digital camera was back at my place since I don't normally carry it around in the car. Fortunately, I did have my GE A735 7.0 megapixel backup camera and was able to get this picture of a new little cutie at the Zoo:

I'm not sure who the daddy was, possibly the one in the picture, although he was in a group of four who really looked proud:

WWW (Wordless Wednesday with Words): San Diego Zoo tiger slide show

Jim Frimmer, San Diego Mission Valley Realtor: Real Estate Agent in San Diego, CA

If you leave a comment, Jim will visit your blog and leave a comment. The San Diego Zoo has five Malayan tigers in residence, but they usually spend most of their time sleeping.

Unfortunately, their sleeping quarters are out of view of the general public.

A recent visit, though, found three of the tigers running and frolicking.

Well, maybe running and frolicking might be putting it a little too strongly, especially for one of them.

You'll understand.

Just enjoy the slide show that I've put together for you. If the slide show here doesn't work on your computer, click here to watch it at slide.com. And remember to put the Zoo and the tigers on your "must see" list of places to go and things to see when you come to the 2009 Convention of the National Association of Realtors in November.
