San Diego will kick off its 32nd year of December Nights on December 4th, 2009 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm and Saturday, December 5 from noon to 10:00pm. What a great way to spend a chilly San Diego night sipping some hot homemade apple cider! Most of the museums open their doors for free during this time. Crowds are expected to exceed over 300,000 people over the two days so get there early.
This San Diego tradition includes unique gifts, foods from around the world, the Spanish Village artistians, music and dancing presentations and much, much more. Give me a call if you have any questions or need directions.

I've never been able to determine which one the zebras fall under, but they rarely are visible or close enough to see well. So a good telephoto lens will help, as long as they are out in the open. If they are just a few feet from you, AND you have a telephoto lens, well so much the better. That's just what I found at the Zoo the other day, so since it's highly unlikely that you'll get a good view of the zebras when you go to see them during the 2009 NAR Convention here in San Diego, I give you the following pictures for this Speechless Sunday. Zebras certainly are beautiful.

Annual passes are very reasonable, especially when you consider that you not only get in FREE to the San Diego Zoo, but also the San Diego Wild Animal Park. When you go to the Zoo, I can highly recommend going to bed early the night before your scheduled trip so that you can get there at 9:00 in the morning, when the Zoo opens. The advantage of getting there early are manifold: One of the great things that the San Diego Zoo does is run various specials for its members throughout the year. One of those specials is a very personal tour. The tour guide drives you around in your own special little cart with about ten people. In some cases, you'll even get to feed the animals, as this little group was doing at the Galapagos tortoise exhibit: The tortoises know that when a crowd of people arrive, they are going to get fed. Apparently, carrots are to the Galapagos tortoise what chocolate is to the human race -- LOL. One of the women was wearing orangle sandles, and one of the alpha males immediately saw those two carrots and took after them. Fortunately, the Zookeeper was there to get things back under control. One of the tortoises refuses to eat carrots when the crowds are there. He likes to eat in private. However, that might be because he likes to have his neck rubbed instead: I believe his name is Chips, and he just stood there in that position from beginning to end. He wouldn't eat anything, but he let everyone rub his neck.

Uh-oh. My handy dandy new Canon Rebel XSi digital camera was back at my place since I don't normally carry it around in the car. Fortunately, I did have my GE A735 7.0 megapixel backup camera and was able to get this picture of a new little cutie at the Zoo: I'm not sure who the daddy was, possibly the one in the picture, although he was in a group of four who really looked proud: That's mommy's feet at the left in the picture. *****

She has had an excellent second quarter, and her husband decided to reward her with a trip to the Zoo. Since I keep a lot of free passes in my car, I gave them two, at which point they invited me to go with them.
