New Cafe Coming to Bernal Heights!
Yes I have confirmed that a new cafe is coming to Bernal Heights on the North Slope. This is tremendous news as the north slope of Bernal Heights which offers outstanding views of downtown San Francisco has been somewhat underserved when it comes to retail and commercial offerings. There are a few good cafes on Folsom, which I frequent offen.

Now a new one is coming to Alabama and Precita. It will be run by the same outfit that operates Dolores Park Cafe and Duboce Park Cafe. I would assume that it will be called Precita Park Cafe. This is welcome news. I predict that that corner will be transformed as the cafe should attract a lot of folks to the cafe and spending more time in and around Precita Park.
On another note, don't tell anyone you heard this but I'll have a new listing not to far from this location coming on the market in about three weeks. It will be a great house with lots of charm and it should sell quickly. Stay tuned for more details.
In the meantime lets celebrate the new cafe coming to Bernal Heights. Tell me you read this blog post and I'll buy you a cup of coffee when it opens. Deal? Deal!

Fitness Comes To Bernal Heights - And The Dogs Are Loving It Too!
A great new business recently opened in Bernal Heights and I had the chance to catch up with one of the proprietors of this new fitness center. It's called "Fit BERNAL Fit." It's located at 701 Cortland and you won't believe how innovative a fitness center can be. It is truly groundbreaking.
I met Jeanne and Dean Eriksen at an open house not too long ago and we hit it off right away. I have to say I enjoy my open houses, meeting people, and connecting with the locals when I can. These guys are just delightful. I come to find out that they are the ones who started this new business on Cortland, a fitness center. Bernal Heights needed one for sure but there's an amazing twist to this place. No, there is no play room for kids...there's a play area for dogs. That's right you can work out and your pooch has a wonderful indoor and outdoor area to play and be safe while you work off those unwanted pounds.
Coyote Is Responsible For All Those Lost Pounds!
The idea came to Jeanne who was looking for a convenient fitness facility for herself and noticed that there wasn't one in Bernal Heights. She ventured into the nearby neighborhoods and wanted to take her dog, Coyote, with her. Problem was that none of the facilities allowed her to keep her dog near her as she worked out and she was fearful of leaving Coyote on a leash in the street. This made her very uncomfortable, not to mention what it did to Coyote. MOMMY!!!
The Fit BERNAL Fit Fitness Center
She was thinking this problem needed a solution. She was walking down Cortland with Dean late last year and came across a vacant storefront and casually said to Dean, "We should open a fitness center right here." After come reservations, Jeanne got Dean on board and the rest is history.
You can get a complete workout at the Fit Bernal Fit. I think the name might come from something like, "See Spot run. Run, Spot, run." "Fit Bernal Fit." You get the picture. It has great hours. It's innovative in that each member gets a coded key to the facility. This allows unlimited access and helps the proprietors keep costs down which helps make it more affordable to the locals. Prices are reasonable and the convenience is tremendous. Visit and let Jeanne know Frank sent you.

Now lt's time to move those muscles!

Bernal Heights Businesses - There's A Lot Of Entrepreneurial Talent In That Hill!
In the coming weeks I will be running around Bernal Heights and meeting with business owners to learn more about them, their businesses and what products or services they offer...and also why they are doing business in Bernal Heights. And then I will reporting here with my findings.
I am Realtor and my main focus in serving buyers and sellers of real estate in Bernal Heights. I cover most of San Francisco as any very good agent would but I have a great fondness for Bernal Heights. I stumbled upon Bernal Heights almost by accident. I met buyers at an open house in Portrero Hill and they indicated that they also were considering Bernal Heights and in fact it was their target neighborhood. I did not know much about the area so I had little to go on other than I remember some of the streets to be rather narrow.
Great Expansive Views Are Available From Many Homes In Bernal Heights

Well long story short...they bought a house in Bernal Heights with my help and within months I was representing many sellers and buyers. It happened so fast that I can't say I planned it. I like to tell people that I did not pick Bernal Heights, it picked me.
It a great place. Wonderful mix of homes, many older Victorians as well as newer construction. The streets are hilly and winding. One gets a feeling of being in a village when you're in Bernal Heights. It's one of San Francisco's best kept secrets as you do not travel through this neighborhood to get somewhere else. I like to call it a Hill in a Square. The south and east are the 280 highways, to the west is Mission Street and to the north is Cesar Chavez. When traveling from one area to another using any of these roads you are bypassing Bernal Heights. Hence, why is remains a secret to many.
I'll be reporting about a new business that was started by a fun couple and it involves staying healthy. I meet one of the owners on Friday and look forward to reporting back here shortly thereafter. Stay tuned!!!

New Listing Coming in Bernal Heights!
In about one week there will be a new listing that I along with a colleague will bring to the market.
Hint:
It's on the north side of Bernal Heights, with great views of downtown, as well as the Golden Gate Bridge. It's high on the hill on a cul-de-sac and it was sold about 1.5 years ago.
There have been several updates to the property. It has the rare 3 bedrooms on one level that many look for and that few can find. It's a property that is in wonderful condition with views and natural light abundant.
Check back in a few days as it will be announced and at that time I will provide address, open house dates, and photos and much more.
It was a crowd pleaser when it sold a year and a half ago and should please even more so with the updates.
