I had a few conversations regarding Identity Theft... which is why I am reposting this blog.

I recently enjoyed an episode of "The Apprentice" because the challenge and topic of the week was on Idenittiy theft. A serious matter and until it hits you close to home, it's not that big of a deal. Most recently, I've been working with a client who is trying to clean up a $7000 medical bill which became a derogatory account. And is effecting her credit and ability to purchase. The reason she discovered this major blemish is her desire to purchase her first home. We are usually oblivious to whats going on the back-end of our credit, but only to be surprise of the "identity theft" when we are purchasing, refinancing, or worst, receiving that unexpected "collection call or letter" demanding payment.

In this day and age, and if you are like me, I am embracing technology on a personal and business level, but there are bored computer geeks that have nothing more to do than create viruses and the worst of all, there are saavy tech-criminals around the world and the internet is not so far away. Coud this happen to you??? Perhaps now is the time to be cognizant as we embrace technology.

On a personal note, and the basis for this blog, a very good friend of mine, Gene Sarmiento of "Pre-Paid Legal", had been preaching this to me 2 years ago. He told me that we will be seeing rise on identity theft in the near future. I don't know what cyrstal ball he was looking into, but thats what i've been witnessing. As a result, and better late than never, I will be looking into this for myself, my client base, family & friends. I encourage you do the same!
