Kiwanis Club of San Marcos helps local school with garden project
In just a few hours this last Saturday, the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos cleaned up and helped to replant a new garden at San Marcos Elementary School. Fourth grade teacher Mrs. Griley was in charge of the project and made contact with our club to get involved.
The garden is a wonderful learning tool for the children on many levels and also helps to feed some of the needier families that have students attending.
The Kiwanis Club of San Marcos does many projects to make the community a better place to live and enhance the lives of the children in North County San Diego.
BEFORE
AFTER
There are white stakes to identify each vegetable planted in the garden and the students in Mrs. Griley's class will be responsible for tending and watering the garden.

Twin Oaks Valley Ranch Ice Cream Social
Aug 21st
2pm-5pm
On Sunday, August 21st, the Twin Oaks Valley Equestrian Association, along with the San Marcos Historical Society and the Twin Oaks Valley Property Owners Association will be holding an old fashioned Ice Cream Social.
Mark your calender and plan to attend on August 21st from 2pm until 5pm. This is a great opportunity to meet and get to know many of your neighbors in the Twin Oak valley.
The Twin Oaks Valley Ranch Ice Cream Social will be held at Heritage Park within Walnut Grove Park.
For those that have not visited Heritage Park recently, there are a few very interesting items back on display. The 1940 San Marcos fire engine is back as well as the original school bell from the 1910 school house.
