Cal State University San Marcos, California Will Offer Online Wait Lists.

Professors no longer have to deal with student pleading for seats in closed classes. Cal State San Marcos students this fall will be able to join an online wait list, offered as a pilot program at the university. The system allows student to join a digital wait list for their desired classes at the time of registration and to track their status on the list. University officials say it's fairer, easier way for student to add the classes they need and allows faculty to better track class demand.

In recent semesters, we haven't offered enough seats, so the students are frantically trying to get into classes (said Miriam Schustack) So the online wait lists makes it a little less like guess work, and it is fairer to the students,  In the past Cal State San Marcos, has managed its wait list by hand. Under the new scenario a computerized registration system will open a wait list when a course fills up. Student trying to register for that class will have th option to join the wait list and can check their position in line. Of the 1,991 class sections offered at the university this fall, 571 sections have online wait lists. That has allowed 1,282 students to move from wait lists into classes for the coming semester.
