Want a real treat for the little ones that doesn’t cost a penny? Pack a picnic lunch and take them to the flight deck of the Santa Monica Airport for a nice meal and a quick view of the planes.

There you can see the ocean and have a great view of both big and small planes, taking off and landing. When the big jets take off you may want to hold your child’s ears (or your own).

There is also a deck upstairs where the Pan Am Room now serves dinner nightly, but is largely empty during the day. The view is great, but you’re not as close to the planes.
My recommendation is still to pack a picnic, especially with the gorgeous weather we’ve been having.
It’s quick and easy trip and something the kids will love and talk about for days.
