Localism is a bustling collection of hyper-local communities, and the top neighbors should reflect those members who are most active. When ranking users in a given region, several factors are considered. To get your foot in the proverbial door, you need to have posted at least one "Localism" article or photo for the region.
The very best way to quickly rise to #1 is to post high-quality local content. Keeping a steady strem of incoming posts and photos will massively tilt the scales in your favor.
What doesn't count toward the top neighbor ranking? ActiveRain points and community sponsorships. The top neighbor spots will always go to the most active members in a region. We want to create a level playing field that encourages the growth of communities — talent and dedication are required to win the day.
I have a client who has been looking for a Rincon Valley townhouse/condo for the past 4 weeks. Every weekend I print up everything that is available to go look at. Every week I notice there is less and less inventory in Rincon Valley (under $200,000) to view. We started out with about 15 homes, and we are down to 4 "active" listings. We wrote an offer on a short sale. My client asked why all of a sudden there was drop in inventory. I told him it was because interest rates are so low. I believe we are truly at "the bottom" and with summer around the corner we will see price increases.

May 14th was the San Francisco Bay Area's 14th annual Bike to Work Day. 9 Bay Area Counties participated in the annual event which was designed to promote awareness to more environmentally friendly modes of transportation. 
It's time again for Santa Rosa's Wednesday night market! This is such a fun weekly event. Held on Fourth St between B St and D st. I moved to Santa Rosa 18 years ago after coming here for a conference and spending an evening at the Wednesday night market (back then it was the Farmer's Market). Their is a real sense of community at the market, and I'll bet you'll see someone you know or run into a neighbor.
