About Simi Valley's Simi Valley Town Center

Dinnertime in Simi Valley with a Latin Flair

Ken Barker Realtor® GRI, E-Pro,Certified Negotiator: Real Estate Agent in Westlake Village, CA

Saturday night my wife and I wanted to try a new, to us, restaurant in Simi Valley. Of coarse it is not new but newer to the Simi Valley Town Center. Rather than go to the same places we have already been we decided to try out the Limon Latin Grill at 1555 Simi Valley Town Center Way.

It was a fairly early dinner so there was not a large amount of people. In fact, we were one group of three. It is a fairly relaxed atmosphere with Latin Music piped in but the entertainment is live after 7PM, on Saturday. We just missed it (we were the early birds).

The motif is contemporary/loft style with a Cuban flair. From the entrance was a very large seating area of tables and wrapping around to the other side we pass a bar that has ample seating.

They have ample bar seating for the happy hours and Sunday Sports events. After we past the bar there was a double door entrance to the patio. In the center is where the band plays toward the outside entrance.

On both sides you have some tables for eating but mostly large luxurious chair and couch set-up. Very contemporary. Back inside more areas of contemporary seating.

I have to say when I knew I was going to a Latin Grill restaurant I anticipated a large selection of a variety of mouth watering beers, dark and light. Although specialty beers were on the menu, my disappointment was when the server informed me that two of my choices were "taken off the menu”.

So, the selection for the types of beer for what I enjoy (dark ales) was minimal. Of coarse the standard beers were there but I wanted something a bit stronger. They had Newcastle, Sam Adams and Guinness. These were the only darker beers. I was not impressed but that is just me. My wife said. "they have killer mojitos" the “best she has ever had”.

A very extensive menu starting off with close to 15 appetizers of mostly meats, dips, chips and sweet potato fries just to name a few. Quite a few salads to choose from with a wide variety. The main menu consist of steaks, fish, pastas all with a nice tasteful Latin Flair. And of coarse, what menu would not be complete without the Burgers and Tacos options.

Our meals were fabulous. Very fast service and very well presented. I wish I could have met the chef. Wonderful food. My wife had the Mahi Mahi taco plate with quinoso and beans, which she excluded and added another serving of quinoso. I had the Bacon Linguini with Shrimp. It was in a garlic cream sauce, snow peas and bacon bits (more like chunks) and many shrimp (they were not skimping on the servings). All it was missing was some sun-dried tomato, in my opinion.

Before we left we asked about the Sunday brunch. It sounds amazing. Breakfast items and some specialty Latin items too. The best part, all you can eat and drink (mimosa's only) for only $14.99 per person.

So the next night that you want to have a nice meal, nice atmosphere, a full bar and entertainment drop by the Limon Latin Grill in Simi Valley.
