~ The Future of Sonoma County State Parks ~
The Future of Sonoma County's State Parks is the subject of a hearing being held today at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa. Numerous stakeholders, both public and private agencies and organization, will be participating in panel discussions on various ideas aimed at preventing the California state budget-deficit-related closure of some of the county's most popular parks, including Jack London State Historic Park, and the famous Wolf House ruins pictures above, in Glen Ellen. It's an open meeting and the public is invited to attend.

The state park closures are scheduled to begin after Labor Day of this year. The map below shows the location of the meeting.

~ Glen Ellen Country Home Offers A Lifestyle from Down Under ~
For years on the way to Santa Rosa I've driven by this intriguing Glen Ellen country property. It's location, at a big curve on Warm Springs Road, has made it tough to get a good look. It's also screened from view, like some exotic hide-away, by several huge old oak trees.
I previewed it this week because an agent in my office is bringing it to market soon. It's unlike any home I've ever seen.
Unless you've spent time in Queensland, Australia I doubt you've seen anything like it either. Queensland architecture is distinctively designed for warm Australian climates where heavy rains are known to fall. Corrugated metal roofs, wood, and stone are the predominant building materials. Wrap-around porches and enclosed verandas create covered outdoor living spaces. This place has a bathing area out on the porch near the master bedroom. Here's a slide show about this unique Glen Ellen country property:

Sleek and Sensual - Sonoma Valley Contemporary Home
Sonoma Valley homes come in all styles, shapes, and sizes and they run the gamut from simple condos to elaborate estates. Homes in Glen Ellen offer a wide array of living spaces, too, though many are often older structures with what's described as a country....sometimes traditional Mediterranean....feel. It's rare to find a contemporary home that complements a pristine natural setting. What a pleasure to see this one on a country lane just outside my hometown of Glen Ellen. It's NOT my listing but it's so impressive I took pictures during a broker tour to share here on ActiveRain. Priced at $6.8 Million it's way beyond the reach of most Wine Country buyers but here folks can check it out for free:

The property, on about 40 acres, is located ten minutes from the village of Glen Ellen and 20 minutes from Sonoma. The county seat, Santa Rosa, is about 15 minutes away. It sits on a knoll top overlooking a rolling meadow with 360-degree views that seem never-ending. What a beautiful Sonoma Valley contemporary retreat for some fortunate new-owner-to-be!
