Temecula Winter Weather is anything but frightful! In fact the song should go as follows when in Temecula..."Oh, the weather outside is sunny, warm and bright", ~ instead of frightful.

Where else can you ice skate outdoors and have the sun shinging in your face as you walk around in a sleeveless tank top and shorts! Temecula that's where!

Temecula hired a company with a big truck to create an ice rink right in the middle of Town Square!!!

The ice rink will be open until January 8th, 2012!!!

And here's the rest of the information:

The Ice Rink is located in the Town Square. The rink will remain open everyday until Sunday, January 8th. The cost is $10 per person for a one hour session, and $2.50 for rental of ice skates. Cash only, no refunds. Ticket sales are same day purchases only. Children under 8 years old are not permitted to skate alone, they must be accompanied by someone 16 years or older. All skaters will be required to sign a liability waver prior to receiving skates. Old Town Temecula

Old Town Temecula was established back in the mid 1800's and some thirty years later when the California railroad came through, locals created the 1st bank and old town Temecula sprang up all around it. Today, Old Town is a thriving business district with it's main businesses housed in it's antiquities. The community is committed to restoring more of it's past while encouraging new development to ensure the area remains robust in activities and services while serving the many citizens tourists drawn to Old Town.

Frescoes of Old Town

I visited Old Town Temecula yesterday late day and having been there a few times over the last couple years, I recognized that I would have to look around a while to be able to capture some new interesting photos to add to my collection from my previous visits. I actually found a number of recently completed community improvements including the new Civic Center but as I was getting ready to leave, 5 small little sheds that had been set up in a vacant area. I realized that while I do recall seeing these sheds before, this time they had frescoes painted on them.

In this wonderful old town setting, as I approached the frescoes, I was taken with what a cleaver way to enhance these little sheds to reflect the times gone by. I have no information on the artist but whoever painted these, provided a very nice interpretative recreation of what Old Town Temecula might have provided in the way of local shops back when.

I visit quite a number of Old Town areas in communities and I love they way they each do things slightly different to make the area really stand out and to be significant in representing the history of the area. And this small collection of frescoes in Old Town Temecula certainly has it's own unique flavor.

You won't want to miss out on this years Street Painting Festival in Old Town Temecula June 24th-26th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Starting the kick off of for "Temecula's Hot Summer nights" and scheduled summer concerts at the Town Square around 6:00 p.m. As the first day of Summer June 21st begins, what better way to kick if off than by attending this FREE annual event! Time to get out the sunscreen, and get ready to start enjoying the beautiful summer weather here in sunny california!

Last year my family and I attended the Temecula Street Chalk Painting festival for the first time. It was so Fun! We had a great time seeing and talking with some the the fine artist that participated in the event. There is also a section marked off so that the kids can chalk paint on a 4 x 6' square, and they even provided the chalk and sponges for the kids to use! Here are some of the photo's I took last year that will give you a taste on what to expect while attending this fabulous event.
