I leave my Sonoma territory most often when I head to the coast and end up in northern Marin. I was exploring a nice ag listing near Tomales yesterday and came across a couple of beautiful eggs in the more modern barn on the property. Modern might be a misnomer, but it's not a 19th century timber frame barn.
We thought we were going to find some hatchlings when we got to the property, but the eggs are still waiting the proper moment to turn into the beautiful creatures they will eventually become...buzzards.
The property is 120 acres that nestles into much larger ag parcels. The surrounding properties tend to be 320 to 640 acres and a lot of the land is protected by MALT, the Marin Agricultural Land Trust. There are some view on the windswept western ridge, but the prime use of this property is for grazing or other straight agricultural pursuits.
It could be a getaway from San Francisco for someone looking for country land, but it's surrounded by dairies and grazing and isn't the bucolic, vineyard viewing estate that people are often looking for. On the other hand, if you're looking for a 4-H property with room to roam, this could be an excellent choice.
