Turlock's Crane Park - Bringing Out The Kid In Me
Not only am I a Short Sale Specialist in Stanislaus County and the Town of Turlock but I have lived in the area all my life. One of the great things about living in Turlock are all the parks in town. The one that I remember the most from when I was a kid is Crane Park. This park is located right across the street from Turlock High School. Crane Park is one of the oldest parks in Turlock. There are hundreds of large trees in the park including redwoods, eucalyptus, ash and others. There is always a shady spot in this park.
As I was walking through the park this morning taking pictures tons of memories came back to me. I remember playing on all the "toys" in the park as a kid. There were several very tall slides, at least they seemed tall to me then. Of course there were swings too. But what I remem
ber the most was the Merry Go Round. We used to get that thing spinning around at at least 100 mph. Or at least it sure seemed like it. I guess we didn't realize how dangerous that thing was back then, although I do remember me and several other kids flying off of it more than once. Now it is an "Historical Monument" and today's kids won't know the thrill of spinning around at 100 mph and flying off into the dirt.
Another memory I have of Crane Park is every year at the beginning of school (which back then didn't start until September) there would be a pot luck picnic at the park. My elementary school was Crowell School and during the first couple weeks of school there would be a back to school pot luck. I remember going every year with my family and all my friends. We would eat as fast as we could then run off over to the toys and leave the adults to socialize. I still remember the green painted wooden picnic tables where we all gathered. Now they have been replaced by co
ncrete tables and benches.
Crane park also has
two tennis courts and ten horseshoe pits. The play area was replaced a couple of years ago with much safer (law suit avoiding) toys. There are several picnic areas with tables and BBQ's that can be reserved for your get togethers. There is also a family of bears in the park. Ok, not real bears but one of the old trees has been carved into a family of bears. It's pretty cool. Someone has a lot of talent.
If you are thinking about moving to Turlock give me a call and I will answer all your questions about the parks and anything else you want to know about Turlock. I can't sell you the park but maybe a home with a "park like yard". If you live in the area and are facing foreclosure and don't know what to do give me a call for a free no obligation consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.

Turlocker Makes Texas League All Star Team
A former Turlock resident has just been named to the Texas League Double A All Star Team. Tommy Mendonca from Turlock Ca and a graduate of Turlock High School and Fresno State was named as a reserve for the south division.
Tommy has been on a tear as of late and is leading the team the Frisco Roughriders in batting average and RBI. He is also tied for first in doubles and is second in home
runs with 14. He was also named the Texas League player of the week last week after going 16 for 33 with 12 RBI.
Last year Tommy played in the Single A California league with the Bakersfield Blaze. I got out to one of the games last year when He and the Blaze were in town to play the Modesto Nuts. Unfortunately that was the game that his coach decided to give Tommy the day off. Tommy also was on the Fresno State team that won the College World Series a couple of years ago and was the MVP of the series.
I am looking forward to hopefully some day watching him play in the big leagues (even if he is playing for the Texas Rangers). Maybe some day I will get to see him in a
game in Oakland against the A's. Or even better yet in an interleague game against the Giants. That way I can actually root for the Rangers and Tommy that day against the San Francisco Giants. (Sorry Giants Fans)
I am happy for Tommy and wish him all the luck in the world and hope that he realizes his dreams of playing in the big leagues some day. I am happy for his day Ray too who I have known since elementary school. Congratulations to both!
