Purpose
The Academic Performance Index rates California's public schools and sets targets for the schools to achieve.
What the categories mean:
API scores: The state uses the Academic Performance Index to rank schools based on test scores. The rankings are based on student's scores on state standard tests, the California Achievement Test and the California High School Exit Exam. The API is graded on a scale of 200 to 1,000, with 800 being the statewide target.
Statewide ranking: This ranking rates schools across the state on a scale of 1 to 10. A school with a 10 falls in the top 10 percent of every school in the state. A school with a 1 is in the bottom 10 percent. Alternative high schools are not ranked.
Similar-school ranking: In this ranking, schools are rated on how well they do compared with 100 similar schools, based on such criteria as ethnicity, socioeconomic status and percentage of students who don't speak English as their first language. Like the statewide ranking, the scale is 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest.
2008 API Target: This is the minimum score schools need to reach in this year's testing. Schools that are already at 800 or above, the state's goal, don't receive a target, but must stay in the 800 range. Schools will learn in August whether they reached their targets, based ontests students recently took.

Platinum Home Staging, Inc. is partnering with Bell Arts Factory of Ventura, CA.

Connie Tebyani, Platinum Home Staging Los Angeles to Santa Barbara : Home Stager in Thousand Oaks, CA

Platinum Home Staging, Inc. was first contacted by Josh Addison for Staging and Design Consulting to sell his water front marina home located in Ventura, CA. Josh Addison is also the founder of the Bell Arts Factory, a non-profit organization which focuses on bringing art, ceramics, music and other arts to children and the surrounding communities.

Consisting of over 20,000 square feet, the Bell Arts Factory houses over 25 local artists and a 2,000 square foot community room that is open to the public. Artists can be seen working or displaying their art on days when there are special events taking place in the Community Room, and Youth Programs are available for children from ages 6 - 18 for free.

Josh was looking to help gain exposure for the local artists in the region, and Connie Tebyani, owner of Platinum Home Staging, Inc. was looking for artwork and sculptural elements for many of the Staged homes. After further discussing the Home Staging and Interior Decorating Industry, a mutual friendship was struck and both agreed that this could be partnership built for success.

Because as Stagers, we are continuously looking for great pieces of artwork, or sculptural pieces for larger homes that are also cost effective. Josh saw this as the opportunity to be able to showcase the local artists within the home environment, thus promoting not only the artwork, but artists themselves to a greater audience than just those familiar with the Bell Arts Factory.

Artwork will be provided on a contingency basis and cross promotion of both Platinum Home Staging, Inc. and the Bell Arts Factory will be supported.

What I also love most about this partnership is that the featured artists have agreed that artwork sold through Stagings or Interior Decorating by Platinum Home Staging, Inc. will donate a portion of their proceeds back to the Bell Arts Design Community Programs. It's a Win - Win - Win for everyone, especially for underprivileged children in the community.

Ventura County real estate continues to show signs of having turned to the upside.

Over the last week there has been a decline in listings (inventory); sales continue to increase (although it slowed the last two weeks this past week when compared to prior weeks); the number of days on the market for sold properties continues to average three (3) months; and the variance between list price and average sales price for sold homes continues to hover around -5.0 %.

Homes priced from $ 300,000 to the low $ 400,000's appear to be selling the fastest. Conejo, Simi and Moorpark appear to be the highest sales area. Fillmore continues to show prices sliding downward.
