Should I Share the Wealth, or Keep Active Rain a Secret in my Market

Virginia Dean- Realtor Visalia Concierge Real Estate: Real Estate Agent in Visalia, CA

Friends I started visiting Active Rain in January of this year. I don’t remember exactly where I first heard about it, but once I found it I knew I wanted to be a member.

In the almost 6 months I have been waking up with the rain, I have learned an enormous amount, laughed a lot, and most importantly have been inspired and encouraged by the wonderful group that plays in the rain.

I feel like I know some of you, as I visit your blogs at least once a day, to see what you have to say to me today. I have commented, reblogged and book marked on a regular basis. I own two books written by rainer’s and am sure will read whatever wisdom I can get my hands on.

Well Rainers, today, with the whopping point total of 31,147 I have become number 1 in my town and number 1 in my county.

I always thought all things started in California, but Active Rain is a secret here, and I don’t think I am going to share it with anyone.

Yahoo, I am #2 in my County

Virginia Dean- Realtor Visalia Concierge Real Estate: Real Estate Agent in Visalia, CA

Now to many, this may not seem like an accomplishment. I just started weighing in at #3 after writing a couple of blogs. I know my County (Tulare) need to get up to speed on what this has to offer, and I am suggesting it alot to other agents, my team leader and my broker.

I really want to do quality blogs, just not compete for points, I just had to beat thain.t one because I have never heard or seen their prescence.

I will be a regular AR blogger and reader/learner.

I love active rain.

My two cents on the new Visalia sign ordinance.

Real Estate Signs

Do they Direct and Assist

Or Do They Clutter and Irritate ?

Our town, Visalia, CA. located in the produce rich San Joaquin Valley, has been having an ongoing debate about Real Estate Signs.

There was a sign ordinance that was pretty restrictive for Realtors and Home Builders. It made it difficult to advertise new homes and to direct potential buyers to subdivisions and open houses.

Our City Council just approved a new sign ordinance that seems even more restrictive. You can see the article courtesy of the Visalia Times Delta here:

I agree that signs should be managed well. They should not cause traffic hazards or impede vision of drivers and need to be picked up after events. I also think signs that are posted at homes for sale need to be in good shape, readable and removed according to the rules of the local Board of Realtors.

My concern ? Marketing homes in this market is difficult enough, why handicap the folks who are working tirelessly to do it.

Spring is Just Around the Corner in Visalia, CA

Blossom Trail

I have lived in seven states in my life. Born in NY, grew up in CA. and crossed the country and back again while married and raising a family. Everywhere we lived was interesting. Each location had it's own advantages and disadvantages. I feel blessed to have had that opportunity.

When I moved to Visalia, CA. 5 years ago, most likely the last move of my life, I am sure I acted like a child who found joy in some very simple things. My last address was in Scottsdale, AZ. and while it was one of the most beautiful places I lived, it was more like living in a resort rather than anything else.

My first spring in Visalia I was introduced to the beauty of the fruit trees in blossom. My partner drove me around the area, giggling as I was in awe of all that was usual to him. I took pictures from the car window, from in the groves, even got close ups of the blooms. I had never seen anything like this before, acres of beautiful white, light pink and fuchsia blossoms everywhere I looked.

Today's Fresno Bee has the map for the 2011 Blossom Trail, I clipped it and put it on our refrigerator for a couple of weeks from now. Once again, I will oooh and ahhh over the beauty that nature and hard working farmers present for all of us.

Even if it is old hat for you, I highly recommend you following the trail this year. The beauty will make your heart sing, like mine did.
