New development to bring amenities to Anschutz Medical Campus - Today, city leaders and developers will break ground on Fitzsimons Village, a new $80 million hotel and office project across from the Anschutz Medical Campus. Business leaders say the project is a positive sign that financing is returning to commercial development following the recession. In its first phase, Fitzsimons Village will have a 160,000 square-foot office facility that includes 16,000 square-feet of retail space; a 153-room SpringHill Suite by Marriott; and a regional banking branch. In the second phase, a seven-story, 208,000 square-foot office building and a full service hotel and conference center will be built. Read full article:

The University of Colorado Hospital is planning a $400 million expansion on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The hospital plans to announce Wednesday that it will break ground on a 12-story tower in early 2011, according to a news advisory sent this afternoon. The project will allow the hospital and its faculty and staff to meet an ever-growing demand for their services throughout the Rocky Mountain region, according to the advisory Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, Aurora Mayor Ed Tauer and hospital President and Chief Executive Bruce Schroffel will make the announcement Wednesday on the site of the new tower at the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Corporex Gets Financing for First Phase of Fitzsimons Project In Aurora, CO - Covington, KY-based Corporex is moving forward on the first phase of Fitzsimons Village, a 32-acre mixed-use development across from the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO, east of Denver, after securing $80 million in financing. The project includes the construction of a 153-room hotel and a six-story, 170,000-square-foot office building, with The Children's Hospital Association and administrative and staff offices for Children's Hospital serving as anchor. The office project includes ground floor retail spaces and a freestanding parking structure. A second office building is planned for an adjacent parcel.
