The Denver Post had an article about elevators in homes on Sunday, October 11, 2009 titled "Elevators Moving Up in Popularity at Home." In the article, it explains how elevators allow people to stay in their homes longer, and they provide versatility with families who frequently have older parents staying with them for extended periods of time. The owner of an elevator company is quoted as saying that about 500 residential elevators are being installed annually in Metro Denver.

The Knolls of South Suburban Denver is one of the best values in the Centennial Area. My mom and I have helped over 200 families with their real estate needs in this neighborhood and I delivered newspapers and grew up in The Knolls.

Lately, 14 homes have gone under contract or sold since June 1, 2009. This leave only 3 active listings the best of which is 7123 S. There is definitely a shortage of inventory in this neighborhood and after a little stall earlier in the year we are seeing things move in The Knolls. This pool and tennis community has a great package for young families and the predominant builder "Writer" was a little ahead of their time with some open floor plans mixed with nice greenbelt locations.

Its been a while since my last blog post. I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about a grass roots GREEN event that was I was very excited about. Two Knolls families in Centennial Colorado bought homes we had listed and shortly after moving in, installed solar systems. They decided to organize a home tour to show off their systems. I naturally volunteered to help sponsor and promote it because I am an EcoBroker and I have special training in GREEN issues in real estate.

Last Saturday, April 11th the Solar Home Tour began and both providers were present with representatives explaining their techniques and benefits. There was plenty of interest from the neighbors and a steady stream of traffic through each home. The two companies were Standard Renewable Energy and Simple Solar. Both have demonstration vehicles that they use for events like this.

I learned even more than I used to know about the rebates with Xcel Energy in Colorado, and the IRS tax credit. I also learned how systems are sized and how there can be web based feedback on a home's energy production and energy use. We also talked a lot about the cost of the systems, the payback period, the increase in a home's value due to the system, etc.
