About Colorado Springs' Broadmoor

US Women’s OPEN at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Realtor ® - Cherise Selley: Real Estate Agent in Colorado Springs, CO

The Broadmoor

As a follow-up to my last blog, yes, I did make some time to go to the US Women’s OPEN at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.

Thank goodness the weather was good, and thanks to my friend, who has a nose for picking out the best threesome to follow for this major golf tournament.

Paula Creamer

Always a crowd favorite on the women’s tour, we decided to follow and watch Paula Creamer, who is the defending OPEN winner from last year, as well as the top competitor, Tseng.

Some wonderful shots were made by all, although the putter betrayed the women we were watching for the completion of their first round.

Nonetheless, the tournament is exciting. The venue is organized and well run. And the beauty and the magnificence of The Broadmoor had its signature all over this Major for the LPGA.

It’s not too late to join in on the excitement of the golf tournament. Two more rounds remain. Hope to see you there!

Vacation Homes Reap big Profits During the US Woman's Open Golf Tournament in Colorado Springs

Lorraine Sayer Realtor ABR,CDPE,GRI Colorado Springs,CO RE/MAX advantage: Real Estate Agent in Colorado Springs, CO

Savvy Colorado Springshome owners are taking advantage of the U.S. Woman's Golf tournament going on now at the Broadmoor. For those willing to tolerate a little inconvenience of moving out of their homes and renting to spectators for the tournament big rewards are possible. One of the most popular sites to market a home is Vacation Homes by Owners. Many of the areas homes have been booked for over a year in anticipation of this week's events allowing for comfortable lodging in private settings.

The homes should be tastefully furnished with all the conveniences that an upper end hotel would provide although these details can be included in the advertisement or communicated to potential renters. The attraction and price will of course be determined by the location and Colorado experience provided for customers. The mountain chalets are the most desirable with views of the Rocky Mountains and nestled amongst the Aspen trees, but within a reasonable commute to Colorado Springs. Some clients will prefer to experience the historic Old North End and enjoy a home built during the gold rush days. While others are enjoying the spectacular views and eclectic shops and restaurants found only in Manitou.

The testimonials are critical and owners are encouraged to ask for feedback of customer experiences that can be posted on websites. Meeting the customers personally and providing a tour of the home with information on the local amenities only builds a stronger relationship and eliminates potential pitfalls. A quick reminder about the physical changes experienced at high altitude, the wildlife here in Colorado, and the weather is also very beneficial.

For the home owners here in Colorado Springs, Manitou, and Woodland Park that have unique and interesting properties, renting the home by the week might be a very profitable and enjoyable experience especially during peak events such as the current U.S. Woman's Open Golf Tournament.

365 Things to Do in Colorado Springs ~ Day 43 An Evening at the Golden Bee

Kelly Young ~ Colorado Springs Real Estate ~ 719-226-0126: Real Estate Agent in Colorado Springs, CO

The Golden Bee located in the lower level of the Internation Center (entrance is on the east side) at the Broadmoor Resort. The Golden Bee was originally an English Pub located in England. In 1961 the Broadmoor purchased the Golden Bee and had it disassembled, moved from England to Colorado Springs and reassembled here where it has remained since. The Golden Bee is a definite "to do" on your list of places to go and things to do whether you are visiting Colorado Springs or a resident. With beer served in yards, famous Cheese recipes and sing-along renditions for all, a good time is always available.

Resident pianist Bud Kruezer and others can be heard nightly at the Golden Bee starting at 8:30 p.m. Be ready to participate as it is hard to not join in with song books available for any and all who want to join the fun!

With the Golden Bee just celebrating its 50th year there was a big birthday bash this year with a special ale for the event. For more information and particulars check their website.

A great night of fun for the adults! Watch out for the flying bees. They stick to everything!

Colorado Sky Before the Haze From the Fires Moved In: Almost Speechless Sunday

Colorado Springs Sky

This picture was taken in Colorado Springs from the Broadmoor Resort area about two weeks ago.

This last weekend, there was no blue sky to be seen. The smoke from the wildfires in New Mexico and Arizona created hazy conditions in Colorado Springs all weekend. For all involved, I hope the fire(s) will be contained soon.

Lions Heart Celebration Gala – President George W. Bush

Colorado Springs Realtor ® - Cherise Selley: Real Estate Agent in Colorado Springs, CO

President George W. Bush

This past Saturday we had the privileged opportunity to attend a fundraiser put on by Colorado Springs Christian Schools, in which former President George W. Bush was the guest speaker. The event was held at The Broadmoor Auditorium. Cherise and I were part of a highly enthusiastic audience who eagerly waited to hear what President Bush had to share during the evening event.

Needless to say, we were not disappointed in the least by his speaking engagement. Personally, I thought he did a great job, conveying some simple, yet profound, principles about leadership, especially during these turbulent times. He spoke of his experiences in the Oval office, as well as sharing some historical perspectives that reaffirmed our station in life today. President Bush did this with dignity and grace, refusing to get into the muddy aspects about White House politics.

Of the many pearls of thought he elaborated on, there is one I’d like to share with you in this blog. It involves the importance of making tough decisions. In so many words, President Bush encouraged us to make “principled decisions” about our businesses, rather than giving into the popular voices, or fads, or anything else that keeps popping up like the winds of change to distract our focus. In the end, making the tough decisions requires our accumulated knowledge about the subject matter, and maybe as importantly, how well we trust our own abilities to make decisions based upon who we are, in terms of our position in leadership.

The night was filled with optimism and a sense of community, realizing that these times are simply part of a bigger storyline about life. At the conclusion of the event, I found Cherise wanting to return to her family roots in Texas. This confirms a lot about the evening. We had a great time!
