Corderra
I recently had the pleasure of touring a selection of newly built homes in Corderra, located east of Powers Blvd and north of Research Parkway. The entire development is located in the highly rated District 20 school district and another bonus is that the community is close to the Powers Blvd shopping corridor. The elementary school, Chinook, is one of the few schools in the area that teaches Mandarin Chinese beginning in kindergarten. (Yes, I did type that correct, they do teach Chinese).

All of the homes in community are designed to not look like some of the traditional "cookie-cutter" houses sometimes found in subdivisions; and they have 6 different architectural types in the community including: American Hertigage, European Cottage, Italian Electric, Craftsman, Prarie, and Spanish Eclectic. Also, another unique feature of the community is that all of the streets are cul-de-sac streets, which equates to less traffic and a great way to get to know your neighbors. There shouldn't be much traffic in the area.

The area is being developed by La Plata, which is the same developer that was involved in the successful development of the Briargrate Parkway masterplan; one of the largest subdivisions in northeast Colorado Springs.
The area does has a $105 HOA, which includes trash removal, community recreation membership, maintenance of trails and common areas. The Community Recreation includes a heated outdoor swimming pool, a snack bar, a fitness center and complimentary classes, an internet café, and a child watch area.
Also, another one of my favorite features of the area are the storybooked themed parks, including the one themed around Alice in Wonderland and another one designed after the farm in Charlotte's Web; both perfect for kids and the young at heart.
Some of the builders in the area are: Campbell, Keller Homes, Saddletree, Vantage, Symphony and they all have homes starting in the $300,000's. All of the homes are Energy Star qualified.
Readers of the Colorado Springs Business Journal have voted La Plata Communities Best Developer in the 2009 Best of the Springs Business awards, one more reason to check out this growing community.
Remember, knowledge is power!
