PRESS RELEASE:

Friday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m.

Pueblo, CO, August 26, 2009 - El Pueblo...an Adolescent Treatment Community, commits
to "go green" by constructing a solar energy field, through a 1 million dollar gift
from SolarMR, Pueblo Colorado.

El Pueblo is the first Therapeutic Residential Childcare Facility (TRCCF) to make
this commitment in the state of Colorado. The solar energy field will provide El
Pueblo the opportunity to cut energy costs by at least 20 percent, as well as
educating the youth on renewable energy and conservation. The energy cost savings
will allow the facility to redirect the funds back into the programs for youth at El
Pueblo.

SolarMR has generously agreed to install and provide a photovoltaic system for 17
meters on the El Pueblo campus, which qualify under the current Black Hills Energy
rebate program.

Mick Wilheim, a managing member of SolarMR will assist the nonprofit in the

Pueblo West Auction/422 S, Tejon Ave , Pueblo West Recall Election - Vote!

Did you get the post card in the mail for the Nationwide Liquidators auction at 422 S. Tejon Ave on Sat, Aug 15 @ 12pm and Sun, Aug 16 @ 1pm? Looks like lots of furniture, art, and fine oriental carpets to be auctioned off. I called Nationwide Liquidators and they told me that the house was also going to be auctioned off (which was confirmed by the listing agent). I got a chance to tour the house and meet the current owners. Stunningly gorgeous house, with every amenity you can think of: fantastic views from bluff home site, xeriscaped 2-acre lot, travertine floors, radiant heating in floors, plantation shutters, best-of-the-best kitchen appliances, 2500 bottle wine cellar, and on and on! This is NOT a distressed sale so don't expect a steal!

Don't forget, Tuesday, Aug 18 is voting day for Pueblo West's recall election. If you didn't receive a mail-in ballot, then you can vote in person between 7a.m. and 7p.m. on Tuesday, August 18th at any of the following Pueblo West locations:

  • The board room of the Pueblo West Metro District Office, 109 E. Industrial Blvd. ,
  • The Pueblo West Library, 298 S. Joe Martinez Blvd. , or
  • The Ecumenical Church of Pueblo West, 434 S. Conquistador.

Seufer Nursery is back in Pueblo West, Breast Cancer 3-Day

Guess what? Seufer Brother's Nursery is back in Pueblo West and here to stay (In a previous blog I reported their departure from Pueblo West). They are located at their former location on 1087 E Holiday Drive (East of/behind Pueblo West Safeway), co-located with new property owner Rocky Mountain Landscape Materials. The nursery offers a great (and reasonably priced) selection of locally grown trees and shrubs. Nan Black is also back and can provide advice and assistance on the best plants for our dry, windy, high desert terrain.

I have been training for the 60 mile Breast Cancer 3-day walk to be held in Denver 28-30 August. I am happy to report that I've lost 10 lbs and hopefully will be ready (although I can't believe I'll be walking that far in just 3 days). Last year I walked the Susan B Komen Race for the Cure at Garden of the Gods. I was about 15 minutes late getting there and even then, it took another 20 minutes to cross the start line to begin the walk! I was amazed at all of the people walking on that gorgeous day. But the best part of all was seeing all of the Breast Cancer survivors! Advances in detection and treatment mean that a Breast Cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. I still haven't reached my goal so I'm still accepting donations. If you can support this worthy cause, please help me reach my goal - every little bit helps! To all of my friends and clients who have been affected by Breast Cancer, I'm walking FOR YOU!
