Purchasing Property Now Will Save You Later!!
There are a few main things to consider when purchasing a new property. Unless you're planning on paying cash, current interest rates are a major component in the future cost of owning a property. Over the past year, interest rates have been very attractive. It appears that such low rates may disappear in the near future. Below are quotes from two of our local lenders:
"The combination of the end of the Fed's involvement in MBS purchases, the likelihood of Federal stimulus policy related inflation and improving economic activity means that mortgage rates are likely heading north." --Doug Sullivan, Sulquist Mortgage
"The next three months may be the last window of opportunity for buyers looking to take advantage of both low rates and low home prices." -- Terrence Power, Power Mortgage Corporation
The real estate climate in Summit or Park County is ideal for buyers. Although we are still seeing signs indicating the market is beginning to turn, deals still exist and some sellers are very motivated - buying now before rates go up will save you money down the road.
Now is an exceptional time to visit Summit or Park County, enjoy the beautiful weather and make your mountain property dreams a reality. If you would like to arrange a time to view properties, please contact me at any time.

If you have ever been to Colorado to ski, you probably know this scene. You enter Eisenhower tunnel heading west on I-70. The tunnel seems to never end - over 1.5 miles in fact. You have already been driving for almost an hour, and are itching to put on the skis and hit the slopes.
Then you emerge.
You have just passed under the Continental Divide
. You exit the tunnel and before you is a breathtaking panoramic vista of majestic mountain peaks in every direction- a rock and ice sanctuary. Below, in the valley, is Silverthorne, the first town of legendary Summit County, the mecca of Colorado ski country.
This was the scene this morning as my wife and I made our way to our first day of skiing together in over 3 years. The sun was out and it was a crisp 15 degrees as we headed to Copper Mountain. I had in my head John Denver's legendary song "Rocky Mountain High."
You see, we have two kids under 4 years old, and although they are both starting to get the hang of skiing, we hadn't been up without them since our first was born. Up until today, we have had the kids with us every time we were at the mountain. (Check out my blog about kid's ski resorts - Best Ski Resorts for Kids in Colorado)
So we actually did it today- we made it up there for a half-day of skiing (actually we snowboard). A hooky day, and it was incredible, refreshing, and, well, tiring and painful as well.
I don't mean this blog as gloating- for those of you who live here in Colorado or other resort areas, this is what it is all about. To be able to take a half day off work, and be to Copper Mountain in an hour, get in 2 1/2 hours of non-stop runs, enjoy a lunch at a pub, and still get back to hammer out a power-afternoon of work makes me thankful that I live in such an incredible place.
If you are out in my neck of the woods, look me up and let's take a hooky day and hit the slopes!
