Alan Strange Metro Denver Real Estate Professional: Real Estate Agent in Thornton, CO

City Park is a a great Denver suburb known for an increase in new home buyers and homes that have been in families for years and years. The neighborhood is located in close proximity to City Park and and the Denver Municipal Golf Course as well as the Denver Zoo, the Museum of Natural History and lots of local interesting shops and restaurants.

As a dad to three small children I must say that this park features the single greatest playground offered in Denver. You should definitely check it out. Over the years we've taken tons of photographs of Denver and the surrounding areas. You'll notice some great photos of the park, some of the statues in the park and the waterfalls:

Mile High Fine Homes Parks & Recreation Series: City Park

Jeffrey DiMuria www.SouthBrevardBeachHomes.com : Real Estate Agent in Satellite Beach, FL

City Park is a beautiful Park that is just north of Colfax and just west of Colorado Blvd in the heart of Denver. It has an amazing array of amenities within its boundaries that include The Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, two lakes, a boathouse...and is just south of the City Park Golf Course.

For starters the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a great place to take the kids. The Dinosaur and Space exhibits as well as the IMAX programs are worth the price of admission. The Denver Zoo is a very nice regional zoo that has a large array of animals and habitats. The Golf Course is open to the public and is mildly challenging for golfers of all handicaps. The park itself holds a wonderful jazz concert series and is the place to be on warm summer nights.

City Park is a real treasure...and one of the crown jewels of the Denver park system. Visit often!

Denver Mortgage Rates Update!

Putting the FOMC statement in plain EnglishToday, in its first meeting in 6 weeks, the Federal Open Market Committee voted 9-to-1 to leave the Fed Funds Rate unchanged.

The Fed Fund Rate remains at a historical low, within a prescribed target range of 0.000-0.250 percent.

In its press release, the FOMC said that, since June, the pace of economic recovery "has slowed". Household spending is increasing but remains restrained because of high levels of unemployment, falling home values, and restrictive credit.

Today's statement shows less economic optimism as compared to the prior year's worth of FOMC statements dating back to June 2009. The Fed is looking for growth to be "more modest in the near-term" than its previous expectations.

Weaknesses aside, the Fed highlighted strengths in the economy, too:

  1. Growth is ongoing on a national level
  2. Inflation levels remain exceedingly low
  3. Business spending is rising

As expected, the Fed re-affirmed its plan to hold the Fed Funds Rate near zero percent "for an extended period".

There were no surprises in the Fed's statement so, as a result, the mortgage market's reaction to the release has been neutral. Mortgage rates in Colorado are unchanged this afternoon.

The FOMC's next meeting is scheduled for September 21, 2010.

Historic Homes of Denver: Historic Homes and Buildings, Historic Frank Smith House, 1801 York Street

Kerry Klun - 303-549-0818 Historic Homes of Denver: Real Estate Agent in Denver, CO

www.historichomesofdenver.comThe history of the Frank L. Smith Home at 1801 York Street is an interesting one. In February of 1860, Frank Smith's father, Eben Smith, settled in Gilpin County west of Denver in Colorado's majestic High Country. Having come from California, and the California Gold Rush, Eben Smith was familiar with mining. Due to his experience in California, he was possibly the only person in the state that was familiar with extracting gold from Quartz mines. Eben Smith hired himself out as an expert to several mines and made a name for himself in the Colorado mining community.

In 1866, he was elected to the Colorado State legislature from Gilpin County.

In the previous year, 1865, the First National Bank of Denver was founded and Eben Smith was not only an investor in the bank, but he was also named president. However, because of his strong connection in mining, Smith continued his association and investments in the mining industry. In 1871, Smith's son Frank Smith was born.

By the late 1880's and early 1890's Eben Smith came to realize that a huge amounts of the slag in Colorado had been poorly processed and that a large amounts of gold and silver ore remained behind. In 1896, Eben Smith, along with his son, Frank L. Smith started the The Mine and Smelter Supply Company. The company was founded to improve the rate of recovery of gold and silver mining. The Mine and Smelter Supply Company opened branches in Salt Lake City, El Paso, Texas and even one in Mexico City. It quickly became the world's largest supplier of ore recovery equipment.

In 1891, Frank Smith commissioned a home 1801 York St. Known as the Frank Smith Home, the home was designed by William Fisher in the Richardsonian Romanesque style

According to Public Records, the Frank L. Smith Home was last sold in 1994, and was included into the National Register of Historic Places in September of 1985.
