Place to Visit: Nan's Tea Room in Elizabeth, Colorado: October Tea Tasting
I experienced a first and so did Nan's Tea Room in Elizabeth, Colorado...our FIRST tea Tea Tasting! I was lucky enough to be seated with 5 new friends - Hal and his wife Linda, Jacque and her mom Marci and Geri! We had a lovely time trying new teas, eating delicious treats and getting to know each other.
Visitors to Nan's Tea Room will be seated in one of the themed rooms - the Parlor Room, Garden Room or the Kitchen Room. My new friends and I were seated in the Kitchen Room. All the rooms are decorated for the fall season.
We spend the afternoon trying 5 teas. Each tea was paried with a homemade snack. Nan educated us about each tea - its name, its characteristics - and she directed us to the appropriate food pairing. I would love to tell you about each of the teas and the wonderful sandwiches, desserts, breads and cakes that we had...however, I'm going to suggest that you'll have to come to YOURSELF to the next tea tasting to see what you missed!
I will tell you about my favorite - Anel Falls Mist - so named for the highest waterfall in the world, which is located in Venezuela. The tea smells like berries, is pink in color and has a very faint strawberry taste. This tea is also very good cold (of course we had it hot). Nan served strawberry shortcake with chocolate syrup. Mmmm!
At the end of our pleasant afternoon, we were each given a sampling of Pumpkin Spice tea to taste. This will be the featured tea for the month of November. Nan will be preparing Pumpkin Cranberry bread to compliment the Pumpkin Spice tea.
I learned a lot about the differnt types of tea - herbal teas, green tea, black tea (my favorite) and red tea (who knew)? I also learned a lot about the towns of Elizabeth and Caste Rock. My new friends enjoyed sharing stories about their towns.
Nan's Tea Room is located at 392 B Main Street in downtown
Elizabeth, Colorado. Hours of operation have been recently expanded, Mondays are 10:30am-2pm and Tuesday through Saturday are 10:30am-3pm.

Looking for a fun alternative to fast food and chain restaurants for your lunch options? Step back in
history to a simpler time. Take pleasure in the traditional, Victorian styling of the old carriage house and have lunch at Nan's Team Room in Historic Downtown Elizabeth.
Maybe you have a special occasion to celebrate-birthday, baby shower, bridal shower, Red Hat Society gathering. These are great reasons to visit Nan's Tea Room. Come for Afternoon Tea, Children's Tea or Princess Tea (complete with your own tiara to keep)!
Located at 392 B Main Street in downtown Elizabeth, Colorado, Nan's Team Room opened in May 2010. Hours of operation are 11am-3pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
On a recent visit to Nan's Tea Room, my girlfriend and I enjoyed a piping hot pot of tea, an egg salad
sandwich and chicken vegetable soup. No meal would be complete without dessert. I ate every last bit of the pineapple sorbet. My friend indulged in the chocolate zucchini cake. The service was outstanding and food was scrumptious.
Other menu items include quiche, salads, scones (of course) and vegetarian menu choices. To see the full menu and more about Nan's Tea Room, go to www.NansElizabethTeaRoom.com
Later this month, on Saturday, October 23rd at 3pm, Nan's Tea Room will be hosting a "tea tasting" event. Reservations are required. Cost is $15 per person (tax and tip not included).

Looking for Rural Living within an Hour from Denver?
Elizabeth homes for sale have been drawing in new residents for over 150 years. This quaint town can be found about 30 miles south of Denver, which means it’s one of the best combinations of rural living and access to the modern amenities of the big city. You can get to the Denver Tech Center from Elizabeth in just about 40 minutes, making this a great town for folks who work in the city but crave country living.
Running Creek is probably the most interesting geographic feature you’ll find when looking at Elizabeth properties. This creek runs through much of the town, and was the primary reason the area was settled in the first place. Peter I Van Wormer settled in this area back in 1859, followed by the trapper Justin Marlow. Ranchers and farmers settled here, and eventually a lumber mill even sprung up. When the Denver and New Orleans railroad opened up a stop here in 1881, the town started growing in earnest.
There’s plenty to do and see in and around Elizabeth real estate, without having to travel into Denver. The Black Forest and Castlewood Canyon State Park are nearby, giving you plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, horseback riding and rock climbing. Today, Elizabeth has become a popular bedroom community for the metro Denver region. You’ll find many types of Elizabeth houses, and the homes tend to be larger and situated on big lots.
