This week the Army is celebrating it's 236^th Birthday. Soldiers received a great birthday gift from the upper echelons - we are now allowed to wear the patrol caps in garrison for the first time in 10 years. That was a DREAM come true gift.

Of course, there are some exceptions...so if you are in the Army don't don't throw your beret away. You still need it.

The black berets looked great on SOME people. Unfortunately, I was not one of those people. They were hard to shape. They offered no protection from the sun. They were hard to put on. They were hard to shape. So collectively, we were very, very, very, very happy when told that we could start wearing the patrol caps in garrison. The berets will still be worn with the dress uniforms. That is fine.
