The annual Highlands Ranch Fireworks show is all set for this July 4th. It's a little difficult to find all of the information online, so I wanted to post it here.
there are several great viewing areas. If you like to be close to tha action hang out at Town Center Highlands Ranch to get a good view or lay out a blanket at Civic Center Park near the library.
Some of the local Churches offer some nice big parking lots and are on a hill offering a great view of the show. We'll be viewing it from our Church, Mission Hills Church, located just west of Broadway and north of County Line rd.
It is always a great show!
Time: 9:15
Location: Intersection of Highlands Ranch Parkway and Blake Dr
You can check out all of the Highlands Ranch July 4th festivities at the Highlands Ranch Community Associations website.
Happy 4th!

On the north side of County Line Road...just east of Sante Fe in Littleton is one of the best Louisiana transplants in the Highlands Ranch area...and it is known as NoNo's Cafe!
NoNo's opened in 1996 and has been going strong ever since. This family owned business has a strong New Orleans flair (the family moved to the Denver area from New Orleans in 1993).

NoNo's has an extensive Menu and the Sunday Brunch is one of the absolute best in the Denver Metro area. They also have a reasonably priced children's menu (you better if you are a restaurant near Highlands Ranch) and always offer a great deal of specials.
No matter what you do save a little room for the amazing bread pudding...it is the best in the metro area and well worth the calories.
Here is a link to the website www.nonoscafe.com They have a full breakdown of the menu items and a brief story about the origins of the restaurant.
A couple of things to know before you go....NoNo's is closed on Monday and is open on Sunday from 10am to 3pm (for Brunch).
If you live in the Highlands Ranch area or are just visiting....try NoNo's...you will be glad you did!

We have many parts to a real estate transaction:
Finding an acceptable home
Getting Financed
Getting your home choice inspected
Choosing and working with your mortgage representative
Choosing the right Realtor
Choosing the right home inspector
This post is about how you as a buyer should go about choosing a home inspector. In fact...in most cases a buyer will need more then one inspection. If you are in a part of the Country that has issues with Radon Gas, wood destroying inspects, environmental issues like mold, a high occurrence of foundation issues, etc... you may need multiple inspections.
Here is a list of possible inspectors you may need:
Environmental: If you or your inspector feels a potential mold problem may exist you will need to get an environmental inspection done. FYI...these can be very costly.
WDI: If you live in a part of the Country that this is common (Northeast, Florida, TX, etc... this is a must) you will automatically get a Wood Destroying Insect inspection...in other parts of the Country you may rely on your home inspector to let you know if a potential problem exists.
Radon Inspection: Parts of the Country have huge issues here...some parts do not. Rely on your Realtor and Home inspector to tell you if you need to get a Radon Inspection (some home inspectors will also do Radon for an extra fee).
Foundation Inspection: many parts of the Country have issues with soil movement. Areas that build on slab construction (ex...Southeast Texas) will have a large percentage of homes with this issue) are very susceptible to this issue. If you or your home inspector suspect foundation trouble a structural engineer will be the answer (some home inspectors are also structural engineers...check with your Realtor).
Home Inspection: This is a comprehensive inspection of all systems that help the home run including electrical, gas, HVAC, sprinkler, roof, structure, cosmetic, appliances, alarms, etc...). This is the most critical inspection you do!
Here are some ways for you to choose you inspectors:
1. Ask your Realtor for a list of inspectors in each area of concern. Call the inspectors and interview them over the phone. Ask them how long they have been performing home inspections...and ask for a list of referrals. See what technology they use (some have inferred cameras that can spy through the walls and see potential problems). See how long they have been licensed (if you are in a State that requires license.
2. Ask your friends and neighbors who they used. See what kind of materials they have from the home inspection that was performed for them. Did they receive a full manual on their home...or just a few page report.
3. Check the State real estate website for a list of inspectors...this is a much better place to go then the yellow pages. In many States all you need to do to become an inspector is hang a shingle in front of your house...be careful.

From my forth annual predictions...here is how I see the NL East.
1, Phillies
2. Braves
3. Mets
4. Marlins
5. Nationals
Ok...the Phillies are probably the biggest no brainer in MLB. The only issue here is this team is getting older by the minute. That said...it would take a lot of injuries and bad luck for them not to win it.
The Braves could not beat them last year and they now have no bullpen and have done little to improve. The defense in the infield is awful. The Mets have pitching issues although they are likely to score more runs this year if the outfield stays healthy. The Marlins have good starting pitching and not enough offense to contend. The Nationals...whatever...lol
